Ted Room Fired

Coach Roof is part of the GT football family, we dont exactly like hearing his name being drug through the mud

didnt see any of you (ex-players; not necessarily YOU) defend Reggie Ball; and he was pasted on these boards.

I am not trying to be a jerk, but its hard to hear a player call people on this board hypocrites, when I don't recall any former players sticking their neck out for some of our SA's in the past.

and yes, TR's defenses here did stink whether GOL directed him or not!

TR is a good guy, probably a solid positions coach, but was over his head as HC. DC ...still is tough to call; but his first stint didn't go so well IMO.

Beej67 said it correctly, I'll go further in that
"Aint no way we gonna want Teddy back'.

I for one am tired of the "we should hire him because he is one of us", B**% S&*(. Teddy was a joke of a DC under George and a worst HC, how he lasted this long is a act of God.

He has a few bucks put away, let him enjoy some time off, somewhere other than the Flats.

I will remind you once again it was not Ted's defense REPEAT it was NOT Ted's defense. George directed him on what to do.

Y'all don't like Ted that's fine but get your friggin comments right. Yes he was a teammate and a brother and I will defend him.

Now you have people of here wishing him luck, bunch a damn hypocrites if you ask me.
I would never say anything bad about Ted, i like you know that GOL did not give Ted free reign over the defense. As a matter of fact, didnt the defense play damn good in the bowl game after GOL left.

Ted lettered for 4 years at GT. His senior year he single-handedly beat UGA while playing hurt. Show one of our great heroes some respect!!!!!!!!

John thanks for your comments and standing up for him. One great GT player taking care of another. Thanks for the memories that both of you gave us.

Hey, if Ted wants to suit up and play a few snaps, I'm all for it. I just don't want to see anything remotely like the defenses we saw with him as DC at Tech, because they were loser defenses. I'm also hesitant to lay the blame on O'Leary, because Randy Edsall managed to have a pretty good defensive squad under George.

"its just a game Dog" doesnt qualify you

Touchy thread here I see.

You can't be a candidate or hold a professional coaching position anywhere in Div 1A without being tough enough to take criticism. Criticism that is performance based is not off limits in my book for any reason, not even because someone was a great player for us in the past. In fact I would argue that the bar is higher for our past players, to prevent us from being blinded even a little bit to performance issues that ultimately could hurt our program if they were swept under the rug.

But, I will try to be respectful to any coach representing my school. If I haven’t in the past, my bad and no excuses.

I heard Teddy and Chan would be playing a lot of golf together this winter, also a little quail hunting.

I bet those conversations would be great to listen to???

I'm talking about Ted Roof not Reggie Ball.

I am not trying to be a jerk, but its hard to hear a player call people on this board hypocrites, when I don't recall any former players sticking their neck out for some of our SA's in the past.

You are being jerk, I am talking about what Ted Roof told me what George did too him and yet everyone continually blasts him. No he wasn't a great DC because George wouldn't let him do his job. I defend the players I played with. I don't know Reggie Ball, let some of the younger players take up for him. AGAIN, I'M TALKING ABOUT TED ROOF.

and yes, TR's defenses here did stink whether GOL directed him or not!

AGAIN, THEY WEREN'T TED'S DEFENSE. APPARENTLY YOU HAVE A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING THAT.

TR is a good guy, probably a solid positions coach, but was over his head as HC. DC ...still is tough to call; but his first stint didn't go so well IMO.

I DON'T DOUBT TED WAS IN OVER HIS HEAD BUT LOOK AT ME AND TELL ME YOU WOULD TURN DOWN THE OPPORTUNITY, YOU CAN'T OR YOU'RE A FLAT OUT LIAR

Never have I called out one player on this team while being a member of this board. I might request some of them grow some nads and man up but NEVER have I called them out by name.

refrigeratormover, thanks once again for speaking so bluntly. It is people like you and TR that have made GT the class institution it is. I hope he comes home and coaches the linebackers. I wish the center that played with TR would come back and coach the O line!

I hear that Paul Johnson will be Duke's first choice. They could do a lot worse. It would not surprise me to see Steve Logan in Durham. He really likes the area and being OC at Boston College will not be so easy with Matt Ryan gone. Either hire would bring a college coach with experience. One has an option offense that works for him and the other has a phenomenal record developing QB's. (Jeff Blake, David Garrard, etc.)

I'm just sick and tired of people who don't know what the hell they are talking about keep crapping on Ted. He's not perfect we all know that but to put blame on him for George's direction I will fight to the end for him.

Duke is clearly a step down from Navy.

So I have your permission and authority to blame our ****ass defense in 1999 and 2000 directly on O'Leary? I'm cool with that. It might have some relevance in some other threads around here, actually..

Ted had a defense in place and George approved of it and then the week before the first game George instructed Ted to install his defense back in. Blame who you want but don't blame Ted 100% like some are.
