...will Rod Sweeting be in the mix as a true freshman cornerback? We seemingly go 4-5 deep with cornerback without having to play Sweeting (Butler, Tarrant, Reid, Peterson, and Frierson). I also know that several playing the wolf personnel are effecively DBs (Reese, Edwards).

Is Sweeting a total badass?
Is Sweeting being looked at in some specialty defense, e.g. dime corner?
Is Sweeting being counted on in special teams?
Are we class balancing, based on the plethora of DBs we are signing next year?

It sounds like I'm 2nd guessing the decision, but I am not. Just curious to know more about the young man and his opportunities on the field. I feel like I know more about the other freshmen playing than I do Mr. Sweeting.

CPJ was quoted somewhere saying that true freshman will redshirt unless he can contribute to more than just special teams.

If a true freshman makes it to the two deep but it's not just because of lack of depth, I take that to mean that he's got a lot of talent and ability. :biggthumpup:
 
Sometimes its good not to redshirt. For instance, I think Burnett and Dwyer both go pro. I, for my sake, hope they don't, but for their sake, I hope they do. If we had redshirted them, it would have bought us nothing, and cost us a year of good players. There was no way they would have stayed here for 5 years. So if the player looks like he is going to go pro, don't waste him sitting on the sidelines for a year. Thats my humble opinion.
 
If he's going to contribute, then play him.

We don't have the luxury of redshirting everyone who comes through...yet.

lmao..I thought of the exact same thing, I even googled for "backstreet boys demotivator". But nothing good came up so I replied with a serious post instead.
 
I just now got the joke and really wish I hadn't. I was hoping I wouldn't, so that I could be proud of myself, but I did, and now the song is stuck in my head, and I need a beer too. I need to wash away the gayness with the worst-tasting beer I can find.
 
Yeah, I felt pretty gay putting it up there, but it was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw the post title. I heard that song 10 times too many at my high school dances.
