Thanks for a great win:

Interesting, UNC DC takes blame for loss…was mentioned earlier on ST they didn’t prep for Sims playing much. Of course Bateman didn’t put the ball on the ground 3 times, nothing to do with our excellent defensive play, sacks etc., but anyway:

The interesting part to me was the player saying they didn't plan for Sims and the DC saying both QB's ran the same plays. Either the player is lying or the gap between Sims and Yates was the difference in the game

How did it work when Teams much stronger than Pitt tried to shut down Kyler Murray or Lamar Jackson from running in the recent past in CFB ?

Sims might be a half-step slower than those guys, but a Team the Caliber of Pitt won't be stopping Sims' run Game unless our OL has a bad game

Sims is only gonna get better

Sims has an elite work ethic

Too many Fans are over reacting to 1 bad Qtr in the season opener where the Kid missed a few deep throws, he was likely a little amped up, easily understandable, except to the anti-Sims crowd

Why our Fanbase has an anti-Sims segment to begin with probably deserves an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary

Narduzzi at Mich State loved to bring pressure from different slots along the front7 to try and confuse the QB , but it doesn't work as well with lesser players

Pitt is gonna get their azzes smoked, CGC gets his "handshake revenge" afterwards
We have more than 1Q to know Sims is inconsistent at best at downfield throws. Has poor ball security in traffic, and has made some poor decisions throwing to the other team. It’s not anti-Sims, it is anti-free pass for poor play. Work hard and improve and you get no gripes from the fanbase.

Is? Has? You're bringing up stuff from last year as if an offseason of practice and changing pieces around him didn't happen. Because currently he hasn't shown what you're accusing him of since then

Except in one of the two games he played this season.

We know that you pout when someone steals your crayons and you cry when Markie Dugan kicks dirt in your face during recess.

Oh, wait. You claim you have matured since then? That is not proven, but if you can stay tear-free you will get no gripes from your fellow posters.

3) I am thinking wide swing outs or circle routes to RB's may work. Also outside WR are possibly going to get single coverage, so based on how they handle that, outs to the sideline or deep may be available?
I have been saying this all year. Every team is playing press coverage man on man on our outside guys. Either they don't respect their hands or they think that they are better than us. If Kyric or Malachi can break one loose, they would HAVE to focus on the passing game.

Sims needs to run his ass off against these guys then hit them with the pass.

If I've said it before, I've said it a thousand times. Sims is by far more talented and has a higher ceiling than Yates. Yates is a very smart game manager that understands his assignment better than Sims. Once Sims hits his ceiling (which was pretty close to what the UNC game was), he is a MUCH better player than Yates. He still seems afraid in the pocket, and he's trying to use his physical talents to make up for the loss in comfort in the pocket and knowledge of the scheme and defensive unit. Sims can be electric if he just calms down, understands his assignments, and cuts down on the stupid turnovers.

McCollum showed signs of life last
Week with a few grabs. He’s our fastest WR…bet he winds up in the EZ on Saturday.

Tennessee's two QBs ran for over 100 yards against Pitt and threw for 240 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT with completion percentage of 67%.

Those same QBs ran for a total of 30 yards against Florida.

I like our chances.
Pitt fan A: "GT just clobbered UNC, we're in trouble!"
Pitt fan B: "GT lost to a MAC team that went 0-6 last year. I like our chances."
I don't know... it's tough to know which team will show up until you get a lot more data points. Clemson held UGA to 3 points on offense, but then NC St put up almost 400 yds on 'em.

First college game he has played in front of a crowd. Jitters. Gone now.

I guess. I mean, he played in front of 11k at BDS last year, so I don’t know if that 35k there this year was THAT much different, and it was a friendly crowd. But I guess I can see first game jitters/hype being a factor. Glad he seemed to get it out of his system last week, hopefully won’t be an issue this week.

Soooooooo NCSU is better than the dwags, plain and simple

I put Sims shortcomings and this “turnover” theme squarely on Collins and Patenaude. They threw a kid with little high school QB coaching into the fire. I agree it was the right call after the debacle we all witnessed in year 1 at the QB position. But, what I blame them for was not calling plays to build confidence or put him in a position to succeed. I’m sure they thought they were but clearly it was the opposite and Sims got labeled with the turnovers. I really am hoping that Sims sitting after the disaster of NIU has led him to the point where he has mentally stepped away from all the noise and can now just play ball as a college QB and not under the pressure of being a 4 star guy who has to shoulder the offense. Collins, to his credit, has amassed weapons to the point where Sims can just be one of many instead the main guy. As QB, he’ll obviously be the main guy but now after sitting and watching he sees he doesn’t have to shoulder the load. Now, hopefully he can just play ball and not have to be the savior.
