The ACC got punk\'d Saturday

All the favorites went down hard. The only question is which loss is worse? Here's the order I put them.

a) #3 FSU is pimp slapped out of the Sugar Bowl race by unranked Clemson.
b) #6 Virginia Tech gives it away and is snookered again by Pitt.
c) GT gets kicked around by ACC-winless Duke.
d) #4 Miami is shot down at home by an underachieving Tennessee team.
e) Wake gets stomped by hapless UNC.

IMO, the only losses that hurt from a conference perspective are the OOC losses. VT-Pitt and Miami-Tennessee.

If Vanderbilt beats UGA, that doesn't hurt SEC perception, it just reinforces the notion that every Saturday is a war.

Fortunately, and unfortunately on some Saturdays, the ACC has become the same way.

The only win over a ranked team the ACC has is Clemson over FSU. This is a far cry from expectations...but then again being a Tech/Auburn fan I should be used to that by now.

No all of these losses all hurt. When your top tier teams lose to teams they are supposed to beat, then it erodes the strength and perception of the conference. Strength starts at the top not the bottom. FSU and future ACC power teams VT and Miami were still playing for the BCS championship this year. GT and Wake were posing as up and coming upper tier ACC teams. It all went to hell in handbasket Saturday.
