The ACC Should Offer Houston

Baylor would make far more sense in the Texas market. You're just picking the flavor of the month.

True if we could have whoever we want, we would never go after Houston. I don't think we can get that though, and Houston being out of the picture definitely torpedoes big 12 expansion, which gets ND all the way in, which is the real goal. The Texas market stuff is just trying to make up for having to take Houston.

Houston would be an ok add, but why force it? The ACC is much more stable than the Big Twelve. Either the Pac Twelve or the SEC can do the raid and we can pick through the remains for the one team we need to add.

Also a valid strategy, but risky in that the big 12 might actually expand, add a championship game, and then continue competing as a power 5 league of equal stature for a long time.

Fortune favors the bold.

Why? Houston has the TV market, a huge recruiting base, lots of GT alumni, and is screaming for notoriety.

Baylor is a burning pile of dog poo with the Art Briles scandal. There are systemic issues at that school.

I think we tried that when the ACC went to 15 teams. The crap show that the Big Twelve is adding weakens them more than it helps. When Oklahoma is playing a Friday night game in Memphis or Cincinnati, that PAC 12 bid will look really good.

Harpoon the Big 12, go to 15 teams, and pick up Notre Dame after the whole thing goes tits up. Then we have recruiting inroads to Texas, another huge media market for the ACCN footprint, and we get to sit at the table that finally says all conference champions are in, because there are only 4 leagues that matter. Texas won't go indy and Notre Dame won't stay that way because the Pac 12 and SEC will fight over the former and the remaining 4 superconferences will force the hand of the latter with the discussion about restructuring the playoff seeding process.

Discuss.

Somewhat typical GT reactionary thoughts.
Add someone to the conference based on a hot streak. With no consideration to that schools other big sports.
Similar to 1990 when so many started screaming - "Yes, uva is our biggest rival!"
IF we wanted to expand that direction you go for UT, OU. Think big-time.
Get rid of n.d. They only want to get from the ACC, not give. F THEM.
" but what about the LHN?". Cry me a river. What about n.d's TV deal?
Point is, if going to ever do something like this, do it right, not reactionary.

In order to end the Big XII: ACC needs to get Texas (even if we give them a ND-like deal where all sports except football are in the conference and they are independent in football) with the goal in mind to get them and ND to full-membership eventually.

SEC takes Oklahoma and OK State.

B10 takes Kansas and K-State.
