If he instructed his team to NOT score a touchdown in regulation they could have run the clock down to 3 seconds and attempted a game winning 25 yard field goal. (Penn State had only 1 time out left.)

But, Noooooooooooooo - the receiver runs it into the end zone like a complete and total moron with 1:47 seconds left leaving Penn State all the time in the world to come back and tie the game.

The Coach is an IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made the call within .0000000000000000000000000000000000001 seconds after it happened. I just posted it 20 minutes after it happened.

There is no justification for scoring a touchdown there. I am sure Penn State was instructed to let the guy score.

The Head Coach is a total F*CKING IDIOT!

Yes, or they could have fumbled it on the goal line, losing the game and forever questioning if the TD would have been the smarter decision.
It may seem easy to get a TD or even a Field Goal from the 2, but nothing is guaranteed in football, and while being against a top 10 team on the road, you take what you can get.

WRONG ANSWER!
The receiver should have fallen right down and then App State could have knelt-down 3x in a row and kicked a 25-30 yard FG to win it.

Whatever you do - DON'T SCORE A TD AND LEAVE 1:47 ON THE CLOCK - that for sure as hell is the wrong choice. Especially in college football where virtually nobody plays defense.

The smart play for PSU was to let him score. The smart play for ASU was to not score. However, it is very hard to tell get you players to do this. It is just not in either the coaches or players nature. ASU should have made the tackle on the kickoff.

Could miss the FG. Could fumble the snap. Could have it blocked then returned for a TD. App State of all teams should be aware of that.

That is the same scenario that CPJ used against Richt a few years ago - we let UGa score to keep the time left on the clock.

Gus is correct.

Also, I hate to bring up bad memories but this came back to bite us in 2014 UNC. We scored on the reverse to take the lead but we left too much time on the clock. But like CPJ said after the game, you can't tell a kid not to score a TD when he has a chance.

You mean like Dwyer in the ACCCG?

I had App State to win in the stingtalk betting contest.
