The bad

We stopped them when we needed too, but that isn’t a defensive performance anyone is going to hang their hat on.
Add a few red zone stops and it would be a fine performance in this day and age of high offensive efficiency.

Yes I would love to have a stellar top ten defense that can hold opponents to less than 20, but we need a lot more pieces for that to happen.

I'd be happy with one on one point of contact stops. The way it is now, we never know if first contact means a 2 yd gain or an 8 yd or more gain. Nobody on the defensive side of the ball has an embedded mean streak much less killer instinct. We need a few of those guys. Someone with a legitimate chip on their shoulder.

Birr did the last couple of kickoffs. Dunno what happened to Gavin. But I assume the squibs (I think we did 2) were on purpose for some unknown reason.

JRjr
Birr has made a 180 on our FG kicking game.

UNC stopped themselves. They had running lanes between the tackles all night long, their TE was invisible to our defense, and I have no explanation for our DBs pass coverage.
All I can say is that sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut, and our D happened to find the proverbial nut.
Did you find a nut?

The bad: allowing UNC to jump on us how they did. Their first two drives made it look like we were about to get a Collin's-esqe 50+ point shutout.

Our team would have gotten absolutely blown out if Collins was still here. His strategy would have been to make sure the sideline "cheer squad" of non playing team members kept hype going and he would have made sure they were being graded on bouncing, waving towels, and dancing. It would have happened.

As it happened under Key, we fought and kicked and scratched our way to a victory. Our OL decided to start getting nasty. Our defense, despite facing a HUGE OL, probably almost UGAg level, played fast. We faced a QB who was being considered a Heisman candidate and a high NFL draft pick and came through it with a "W".

If we can win that game, we can win any game. We will, obviously, have to play a near perfect game to eek out an upset over UGAg, but we've been there before and done that.

Mind F'ing Right.

I love being a GT football fan. I love Atlanta. I love BDS. I love you guys. I love Hyundai and Lexus (a bit below my love for a Hyundai) and I love old Fords. I'd rather push a Ford into our stadium than follow an inbred little mutt dog around with a pooper scooper and plastic bag.

We did more than one of those stupid kick-offs. We went away from it after the big return. So it was probably a coaching decision.

I don’t think Key called them. He blew a gasket on the second one and was assaulting his headset. Gavin’s a better kicker than missing like that twice so I figured it was either he was injured or someone else called for it.
