The dogs are drooling

There's an update on the wrapper about this:

http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/s...uit/entries/2009/01/26/georgia_tech_co_6.html

And Miller Grove coach Jasper Jewell predicts that Hill will resist UGA’s temptations and sign with Georgia Tech next week.
“I could be wrong, and there are a lot of things to be determined … but right now I think Stephen is going to stay with Georgia Tech,” Jewell said around lunchtime Monday. “He has formed a close bond with the Georgia Tech coaches. They have loved him since day one, even before the recruiting process really started heating up. That’s why I think that way … his relationships with Georgia Tech.”

Ugag gets big time WR recruits every year, but only have 2 WRs in the NFL.

*yawns*

Show this kid some Calvin Johnson highlight tapes and be done with it.

Nesbitt cant be a worse QB than Ball... can he?

I hope he stays, but if he doesnt then its no biggie. I rarely follow GT recruiting because we do just fine without the big name guys.

This will be a major challenge for our recruiting staff. And if we win this battle, it will send shockwaves through Dawgnation.

Yeah I think winning this recruiting war will have some decent implications for recruiting in the state of Georgia. True they didn't come after this guy until late but we still got a player, a WR no less, to pick us over UGA.

One would think... However, judging from the comments from the Dawg faithful at the bottom of the link show that if he does stick with GT there is something wrong with him and they don't want/need him anyways. Those with an IQ greater than a peanut will however realize the magnitude of it all: the first tremor in a seismic shift of in-state recruiting power.

I find it amusing, if not unsurprising, that other schools will still claim that we're a death sentence for a WR. Without even mentioning the fact that Paul Johnson has a very good and very scary passing offense still waiting to be installed, these people should realize that if you want to play in the NFL, you'll need to do more then just catch some passes. Blocking might just help too. Guess what they'd learn here, besides calculus...

Bad news boys:
http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/s...uit/entries/2009/01/27/miller_grove_wr_1.html

"Earlier on Monday, Jewell said he was predicting that Hill would end signing with Georgia Tech next week. On Monday evening, Jewell wasn’t as sure. “I really don’t know what’s going to happen now. Stephen seemed to be receptive to what [Georgia] was saying. But he’s a respectful kid … We’ll just have to see. It is Stephen’s decision with his family, and I know they’ll do a great job of making it.”

My gut tells me this means that he in fact wants to go to UGA and was kept from committing right away out of respect.

Miller Grove's coach, from the new AJC update:

“They pretty much said they were recruiting Stephen out of necessity."
Are you freaking kidding me??? If I saw that as a recruit, I would immediately stop talking to that school.

Its going to be a big loss no doubt. But I want the guys that 100 tech. People like uzzi who stayed with tech through the whole coaching change despite all the offers.

I know that no one in the football world is really going to be surprised if they do get him, but it's still a blow to tech. I mean when players will go to another team who only want him cause they have no choice, its like a kick in the nuts.

Ok, can we bring back the discussion about an earlier signing date now?

I want guys like JD he won't to be at tech even if the uga offer
is on the table. Like morgan burnett and josh nesbitt to name a few.

'Nother update:

“I told [Ball and Garner] I’d let them know something [on Tuesday],” Hill said. “That’s when I’m going to make my final decision.”

Also, we'll find out by tomorrow too. Least he isn't going to leave us wondering till the 4th.

This is actually a rare event. GT and UGA are most often going after completely different recruits.

I believe we have 7 players on roster offer by UGA....Nesbitt, Dwyer, Thomas, Uzzi, Walls, Sylvester, and Burnett.

This will be even nicer when Stephen Hill spurns UGA.

We're only going to compete against UGA for more recruits as CPJ continues to build the program. The 2010 recruiting class is where we are going to really feel the CPJ effect.
