The dogs are drooling

We're only going to compete against UGA for more recruits as CPJ continues to build the program. The 2010 recruiting class is where we are going to really feel the CPJ effect.

We were already heading that direction....5 of those 7 were 2007 and the other two were 2008. I agree we may see more. This year looks like just the one with Stephen Hill.

In 2007, many think Claytor would have been offered...but they were not going to offer him unless he gave them an indication he may commit on a visit.

This is actually a rare event. GT and UGA are most often going after completely different recruits.

I believe we have 7 players on roster offer by UGA....Nesbitt, Dwyer, Thomas, Uzzi, Walls, Sylvester, and Burnett.

This will be even nicer when Stephen Hill spurns UGA.

But how many do they have on thier roster that we offered?

Exactly. UGA doesn't offer Tech probables because they don't want to look bad. Truthfully, Red I think you are marketing for UGA on this one (accidentally). There are a lot of guys that decide on Tech early that UGA wanted but they reserve an offer.

And what about Gilliard this year? And others I'm sure.

Well...the fact is that UGA will win the majority of head to head battles...that is just the way it is until we start dominating them year in and year out like they have us over the past two decades. I like our trend...but we have to keep doing it so the younger kids grow up knowing we are not only the best off the field.....but on the field.

This is why you hear a lot of GT recruits say we have the best "combination of athletics and academics". It has to be the combo...we are not the best at both...yet.

Re: Mike Gilliard. Supposedly he really wanted to be a Jacket in the end...but did not want to go back on his commitment to UGA. If we really pursued full-court press...we may have snagged him.

Quite frankly....there as many GT offers on UGA's roster as you would think...but I count 17. The ones I see for the roster in 2009 are Tavarres King, Israel Troupe, Rennie Curran, Tripp Chandler, Prince Miller, Shaun Chapas, DeMarcus Dobbs, Chris Little, Justin Houston, Neland Ball, Brandon Boykin, Xavier Avery, Makiri Pugh, DeAngelo Tyson, Nick Williams, Christian Robinson, and Bacarri Rambo.

Corey Moon, Justin Anderson, and John Knox claimed offers but did not have one from GT because of grades....there are a couple others like this as well.

Yeah, but if say you're trying to get your dream girl to marry you and she initially declines, then a month later says yes, would you say f*** off?

Nah...just nail her a few times and then send her packing...kinda like Stephen is doing with UGA right now...

Just my opinion, but I think we might see a mild increase in direct battles with UGA, if any, and it will depend upon the year for these reasons:

(1) It will need to be a talent-rich class GA class, like 2007.

AND

(2) A large % of that talent has to be capable of admittance to GT--like 2007.

AND

(3) Of that %, a large % will have the off-field character we're looking for--like 2007.

AND

(4) UGA recruits pretty well nationally, and may go out-of-state to fill some needs (any given year).

Word on the street is that 2010 sets up to be one of those "perfect storm" classes in-state: deep talent, and good academics and character.

Here's to sticking it to the Mutts on the field and on the recruiting field in Georgia next year!!!!

The 2010 game vs UGA is amazingly important.

Not only will it give us a huge recruiting advantage and make our program healthier over the long term, it will be the 2nd of 3 necessary steps to getting Richt fired.

This does not necessarily mean that every single one of those UGA players could have gotten into Tech. We do make offers to guys who need to do certain things in the classroom but don't make it.

Demond Dennis of this year is a good example of a guy who committed and had this happen. But it happens with uncommitted guys, too; They see the writing on the wall and look elsewhere.

Academics aside, UGA is clearly a formidable recruiting adversary. But I thik we go up against some other schools more frequently.

no...I am positive that all but one of those (and I think I have him right also) received commitable offers. The ones I put at the bottom had offers that were not commitable. I keep up with this pretty closely.
