The ghost of Reggie Ball haunted us tonight

Needless to say gth816f, no one here can really know the complete Reggie Ball unless you went to school with him. He was an interesting combination of on & off the field character.

I think that is true. That was my only experience with him(or without him, as the case may be), but I have heard things similar to what you said from some of my close friends who I went to Tech with.

Those options are based on coverage, though, so they might have all gone long because of the defense.

/shrug

I don't know that much about it to say, really.

So I wonder if it's possible that Clemson was "pushing" our receivers to go long knowing that Nesbitt would have accuracy issues and that we need the short and mid-range passing game to be on?

Or maybe our receivers were just greedy?

It doesn't seem like we run slant routes out of our offense... unless I just didn't recognize them. Why not?

I got the replay up until right before we kicked the field goal. I set my shiz (DVR) to record 30 minutes passed the alotted time and that still wasn't enough to get the whole game recorded.

The two big routes I've seen us run out of the flexbone are the Go and the Switch, explained here:

http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/2008/12/paul-johnsons-flexbone-meets-run-and.html

I suspect the completion to Allen in the 4th was on the Go, once he took the crossing route option in the read, but I can't be sure without seeing a replay.

Go:

A back comes across the formation presnap and lines up in trips (or we just start in trips) goes 10 yards and then either does a fly, a post, or a cross based on coverage. Other A runs a flats route to drag the LB away, and the WRs release outside to carry the CBs out of the play.

I remember one play where AA was crossing on a shallow route. He was wide open but Nesbitt electecd to throw deep (down the left side i believe).

The rest of the plays, I was wondering why our "improved passing" consisted of only deep routes.
Also there were a couple times when Nesbitt forced the pass when he could have easily ran for a good chunk of yards. He doesn't seem to want to scramble when it's a passing play.

Those options are based on coverage, though, so they might have all gone long because of the defense.

Or they went long because Nesbitt completes those passes in practices against a much easier scout defense and under less pressure?? That's another possibility.

That's the difference between Ball nad Nesbitt to me. I don't remember Ball ever talking like this.

That quote reminded me of the Tebow speech from last year:laugher:

If Nesbitt backs it up and GT gets focused to play solidly EVERY play then big things could happen, especially with a lot of ranked teams coming our way in the next month.:fingersx:

This is another thread (along with the Tenuta thread) that should be reverse bumped off these forums because it makes us look stupid.

Agree with this.

Our feelings about Reggie would be TOTALLY different if we ran this offense when he was here. I can't defend this comments regarding the UGA game, but I think he would have been really good under PJ.

And PJ wouldn't have put up with any of Reggie's shenanigans. Yeah, I said it. Shenanigans.

Paul Johnson demands respect.

Nesbitt's stats aren't helped by the fact that PJ was calling low percentage all or nothing pass plays.

Idiot.

Don't you realize that CPJ's goals for Nesbitt was 2,000 yards passing, 1,000 yards rushing?

How in the hell is he going to achieve that throwing out-routes like you suggest.

Because all of us with thousands of posts on an internet message board look real smart otherwise .

This is the absolute stupidest ****ing comment I've ever read on this board, period. Kyle doesn't say things this asinine. You can say he played poorly, and that he couldn't count past three or tons of others things abour Ball. But calling him a disgrace is just plain ****ing retarded. I went to school with Reggie, I saw him just about every day on my way to class, and calling the kid a disgrace is simply the most ignorant thing you will ever say. Go **** yourself.

By the way, Reggie never got picked up for DUI and possession while on campus.

First off dude, take it easy. I've never gone off on you or told you to go $%^& yourself or called you retarded. The only disagreement or back and forth we've ever had I man'd up and apologized.

Second of all, it's my opinion not a fact. He wasn't a classy guy on or off the field. He didn't represent Tech or Tech Football in a positive manner on or off the field. Just because you got a hard on everytime you passed him on your way to class doesn't mean he was a stand up guy.
The way he carried himself IN MY OPINION on and off the field is a disgrace to other student athletes that actually give a damn. And contrary to your passing him on the lawn, others that were in classes with him have said that he: Diddn't go, left early, etc etc etc.
This is conduct unworthy of a 100k education.
It was always about him when it came to his playing days....and in the end his attitude and ethics bit him in the @$$

Third, Stupidest isn't a word ... in case you weren't aware. See 1st Grade English for reference

Finally, I'll leave you with this

If you have a problem with what I post, I don't care. But if your problem is soooo severe that I need to go #$^* myself, then we can handle it. I'm at every home and away game and I'll be more than happy to demonstrate your "lil avatar" picture and put your head somewhere that it doesn't belong.

Have a nice night .... Go Jackets

That ghost isn't throwing a devastating pick to ruin my night, it's obviously not Reggie.

Nesbitt was the one doing that. Reggie just haunted us to screw Nesbitt's stats.

We need an exorcism.

A ranking of QB's as far back as I can remember, which isn't too far.

1. Joe
2. Goose
3. Nesbitt
4. Reggie
5. Shaw
6. Bennett
7. Bilbo
8. Suggs

I'm cutting Bilbo some slack for not fitting Gailey’s system.
