12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Tech, so that you may be overjoyed when Dodd's glory is revealed.
~ a reading from 1 Lothridge 4:12-13
Brothers and sisters, lo I come to you again, a shepherd who has lost his flock. My heart is heavy and my spirit weary as a look upon you today and find, once again, your faith lacking.
I have seen your lamenting in the message boards. I have read your heretical posts. I have witnessed your worship of false idols. And I am saddened.
I am reminded of a piece of scripture that comes to us from Lavetteicus, chapter 4 verses 3 and 4
3 For a time will come when the people will not put up with the Triple Option. Instead, to suit their own unrealistic desires, they will gather around them a great number of pro-style coaches, who will never come to coach here, but who represent their delusions of grandeur.
4 They will turn their hearts away from the truth of Paul Johnson's greatness, they will forget his triumphs, and, instead, turn aside to ridiculous notions of top recruiting classes and winning streaks that never happened.
It seems these times have been beset on us now. That again, as it was once before, in this, a great time of promise and 698 yards of offensive production, you turn your hearts aside from the truth of the Triple Option.
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten the uncanny victories?
Have you forgotten All the Way Turnt Up?
Have you forgotten humping the 50-yard line in 2011?
Have you forgotten 3 of 5 in Sanford Stadium?
Have you forgotten what it meant to be alive in 2015?
Have you forgotten that for every gut-punch and head-scratching loss there has been so much more in the remarkable wins and swagger of breaking a dwag heart?
After all the wonder of the past 10 years, do these times still shake your faith?
Do you not see hope?
Brothers and sisters, we have been down this road before. And in those times, then as now, we were brought low. But do not forget that there is always the sun after the storm. Do not forget that, by the grace of Dodd, we do rise as a beacon of all that is good and right with College Football. Do not forget that we are Georgia Tech, the glorious White and Gold, and that though we walk through the valley of the shadow of NCAA corruption and Swafford's Tobacco Road horseshit, we fear no dwag and will be delivered from misery ... usually ... every three or four years or so ... which can kinda suck, but, damn, when shit goes down and we have that special season, it's a high that is higher than anything on earth.
Pull your heads out of your asses.
Amen.
