Don't neglect the Oline. They were dominant.

Yeah, you could say it was a helluva seasoning opening scrimmage. With the added bonus that the entire team will be doing some meaningful soul searching before we hit the meat of the schedule. There's that.Add to the things to keep you sane:
This game literally didn't matter. Even that loss was way better for our team than opening against a patsy and having no idea what we've got going forward.
I agree from a conference standpoint this game meant nothing.. it's hard to imagine any scenario where this game matters except to put fire and piss in these guys hearts
From the post game player interviews, the guys seem hurt but really upbeat about it. Marshall talked like a leader and all the guys said that they're going to learn from this and bounce back. This loss is going to sting but we have a lot to still play for and they know that. The game does matter. Gotta wonder about their mental state after crapping their pants with a very short turnaround for the next game.
I like that. Get mad. Finish teams off. If we have a big lead, put the foot on the neck. We have seen way too many leads that seem insurmountable get blown (Miami, UGAg).From the post game player interviews, the guys seem hurt but really upbeat about it. And even if they dig into the asterisk, we missed a game winning field goal because backup K. The game mattered, but the result is about as meaningless as it comes for whether the team can achieve their goals for the season. The only people this matters to are fans who are defining success as 8-4 vs. 7-5 and view the defense/st as incapable of showing improvement.Think about it this way:
It usually takes our D getting smoked by North Carolina or Duke to get them focused for the rest of the season. If getting smoked in a half against UT, which doesn't factor at all into any team objectives, does it, then that's a positive.
Even in the fantastically unlikely event that we win the ACC and are in playoff talks, the pundits are going to asterisk the game because (game 1) and because (stats).
