The players are soft

Softness is a result of soft practice which is a result of coaching.
I posted a Nick Saban video in the thread "No I in team, but there is in WIN".
That video describes exactly why things are the way they are here.

BS. Jeff isn't fighting for first down yardage. WRs jogging routes, playing patty cake on run downs. No one is selling any play fakes (actually they're helping the defense by turning their heads to look where the play is going). Defenders are jogging on plays that are still in progress. Blockers are content with contact, aren't trying to deliver the hit. Defenders are diving at ankles rather than running plays down. Basics when it comes to effort.

I'll quote CPJ: "you need to have better standards"

one of our DB's in the 2nd half of the game. For over 3 years all the fans have heard is how big and
strong our players have become under the tutelage of Lewis Caralla.

I have yet to see this with this coaching regime!

And frankly the guy who got trucked has stood out to me as one of our better players from both a talent and effort perspective, but by that point in the game all appearances are that he just didn't expect their QB to care that much (some reflection on our mental state, don't you think?). In reality, though, I think the Ole Miss QB, along with the rest of their team, knew our players were soft and wanted to assert their dominance.
 
Summary:
1). We stink at setting the edge.
2. We should have their qb beat us with his arm. Should have played 4-3 defense and stop the run.
3) Tech tried to get back in and Sims made poor run, No First Down. Later, TE falls down, RB falls down, bad pass, stupid decision to not kick the FG!
Game over.
 
Remember how pissed Nesbitt looked when he lost his first game at QB 2008 @VT (there was a terrible late-hit call against us btw).

I see NONE of that same fire from Sims. Granted, he’s playing behind a Swiss cheese O-Line that must like seeing him get destroyed back there..
 
It starts with the coaches ends with the coaches the real question has the players give up on the coaches,that is something you would have to ask them but if you keep the coaches till the end to the year, they won't say anything.
The question is why Sims play the whole game this was a game to play the backup in the 4th quarter.
 
In only 2 weeks, weve gone from hanging with Clemson for almost 3 qtrs and looking fairly competent on both sides of the ball to a team that has quit on the coach and the game.

Sims threw it pretty decently and WRs made some nice catches in game 1. Where has that gone?
 
Guys, lay off the players, ok. There's a reason our 4 or 5 best players are obvious to anyone who has played a down. The great recruiting myth is just that, including transfers.
