Who is going to be the rest of the coaching staff? i sure hope Tenuta is coming back.

p.s. i think our offense will be scary good with nesbitt, dwyer, and jamal evans running a triple option. wow maybe throw in a lil tyler evans ever once and a while.

wow...never seen so many people overlooking Roddy Jones...he is the top back on the practice field the second half of the season (other than Choice of course).

This kid is AMAZING.

Part of it is many fans never go to practice.Roddy will get many touches on the edge...I wonder if we start recruiting Taylor as a QB now, and/or move Reese over from CB as someone suggested

Nesbitt is the only QB on roster than can run his system. I doubt we move a Reese or Burnett back over because he wants to throw out of his attack...he just has not been able to. Those two are pure option. However, we may have to move someone there to be a backup.

I look for us to offer Jaybo Shaw (current MTSU commit)...and I look for us to push hard for Matt Roark as a QB (who we have offered as a WR).

In my opinion, Quincy Kelly is a better runner, but Bray is an animal. It should be fun to see them fight it out.

If we run the spread flexbone, then I see Jon Dwyer as the strongest contender for starting FB. FB in this offense is basically the same thing as a featured tailback.

Jamaal Evans and Roddy Jones were practially made for the slotback spots. Need a third starter-level slotback to rotate in, which could maybe be Correy Earls. Tyler Evans and Embry Peeples would make good backups.

At QB behind Josh Nesbitt, why not Cooper Taylor? A 3-star "ATH" recruit who was a triple-option QB at Marist. He's 6'4 but apparently has the wheels as he had offers from both us and UVA as a WR/S.

This all depends. If Paul Johnson does as he says...and he has said the only reason his offense was not like West Virginia's was because he lacked the athletes...then you would see a stronger passing QB that can also run like Pat White (6-2, 190)...and a larger FB that can also run like Owen Schmitt (6-3, 250). PJ also mentioned Illinois....their FB is 6-0, 240.

If he went with the smaller FB's like he did at Navy (6-0, 200; 5-9, 200) and he tries to move Dwyer there...I could easily see him transfering.

Not complaining....I want PJ to do what it takes to keep our program winning and even win bigger...I just know how fans will react if players start transfering and/or we start recruiting lesser "starred" players.

I just hope our fans are patient depending on which route PJ decides to take.

I'm the one that suggested that Reese may move over to QB. I bet this happens, we need depth behind Nesbitt badly. He is a 2nd string CB. Absolutely NO WAY we would move Burnett. He has All American written all over him at CB.

PJ always has had depth at QB, you have too, as injuries are more likely at QB in his option system in comparison to a Pro style drop back passing system. The QB in his system get's a lot of run's. I would look at a few roster moves. Reese makes a lot of sense.

Hivered- you could easily see who transfering? Dwyer?

My point was just that if he wants to leverage our athletes to do a lot of what you see West Virginia (he mentioned them Illinois, and Florida in an interview on 790) then everyone should stick around. The only odd men out would be Bennett, Booker, and Manley...all senior QB's.

However, if his depth chart matches the current one at Navy...there is no TE at all (Peek, Barrick)...and the FB is the more traditional feature back on our roster (Dwyer).

I am just pointing out that we could see changes...maybe none at all...depending on the route PJ takes. I just have a feeling our fans are going to have to be patient with some of these changes if they happen at all.

“Who is going to be the rest of the coaching staff? I sure hope Tenuta is coming back.”

If you believe the Annapolis Newspaper, Ivin Jasper (QB coach) is staying at Navy and will be their offensive coordinator. Again, the Annapolis Newspaper implies that Brian Bohannon (WR’s), Jeff Monken (Special Teams / Slot Backs) and Todd Spencer (OL) are the only three Navy coaches coming to Tech.

If you believe the SI.com’s Saturday article, Radakovich said that retaining Tenuta was not discussed during the interview process with Paul Johnson. But, Radakovich did add that Tenta’s work speaks for itself.

Also, many sources say that Giff Smith is almost certain to be retained.

Due initially to the presence of local SW FL freshman star RB Noel Devine, I watched quite a number of WV games this year, and to me they had the most entertaining and certainly most effective offense of any of the top 10 teams.... until we saw in the Pitt game just how much of the "O" was predicated on the absolute star quality capabilities of their QB Pat White, whose injury that game probably cost them a spot in the BCS title game.

My point is that Johnson will walk into a scenario with great RB components and a potential fit in Nesbitt, but that it shouldn't be overlooked that White wasn't just a good runner / passer, he was a true uber-star runner / good passer, and that made all the difference (and the three headed monster of Slayton, Devine and Schmtt didn't hurt either,of course).

I'm really looking forward to the start of the season, and by next year, when PJ has had the chance to recruit to suit, let's look for the beginning of something big!

Donnan on 680 this morning said that Johnson plans on bringing Mike Sewak, his old OC at GSU and the guy that took over the head job there after he left, with him here to GT. For what it's worth.

...and the FB is the more traditional feature back on our roster (Dwyer).
The FB's role in this offense is still mostly the handoffs between the tackles with the Slot handling the outside runs off pitches, right? That being the case, from what I've heard about practice and seen in the games, Jones would be the likely FB and Dwyer at a Slot position. Jones may be smaller, but I remember hearing that he was a more north-south runner that hits holes quick, as opposed to Dwyer typically bouncing outside.

I'm assuming that you went to a lot of the fall camp practices and saw him then. Have you been able to go to any practices later in the season, or have you just heard that he's improved?

It makes sense. Dwyer is a pro-style running back - I hope he stays around because you can't not give this guy carries but just because you're tough and you can run the ball doesn't make you a perfect fit for an option offense.

The bottom line is with a change in philosophy this drastic, there will be changes in personnel. We will also take a step back in productivity (wins/losses). I think it's unrealistic to believe otherwise. I think we'll be fine with CPJ in the long run but we're definitely going to take a step back before taking 2 steps forward.

I don't believe that the WV style of offense will hurt Steve Slaton's position in the NFL draft one bit!

Sewak knows PJ's offense like the back of his hand, AND he happens to be a former teammate/roommate of JT at UVA. Hmmm.......

In terms of reading the blocks on runs between the tackles and blitz pickup it will since he is always running outside.

I was thinking yesterday that since Dwyer already wants to bounce every run to the edge he is a perfect back for a VWU style offense (where he'll run outside by design) and the learning curve for him won't be as steep as in the traditional offense where he has to learn to read the blocks on inside runs and is expected to pickup the blitz more often.
