the rest of the coaching staff

I'm assuming that you went to a lot of the fall camp practices and saw him then. Have you been able to go to any practices later in the season, or have you just heard that he's improved?

I have not seen him as much as some of my friends who go much more often...and know their football. Plus...some of the team parents and our coaches told me during November in conversations I had with them.

To the previous post....Roddy is not a pure north-south runner...it is just that he can do that or bounce it outside. Things are just coming much more naturally to him at this point. Dwyer's challenge is that he always wants to bounce it outside and has a hard time finding the cutback lanes for whatever reason. Both backs will be fine...and both are going to get a lot of carries in the coming years.

I'm pretty excited about getting Dwyer and Jones loose on the outside. The question is who is gonna be our FB? The FB up the gut is often a huge play for these kinds of offenses. Is QK a running fullback or more of a Mike Cox type?

If we run the spread flexbone, then I see Jon Dwyer as the strongest contender for starting FB. FB in this offense is basically the same thing as a featured tailback.

Jamaal Evans and Roddy Jones were practially made for the slotback spots. Need a third starter-level slotback to rotate in, which could maybe be Correy Earls. Tyler Evans and Embry Peeples would make good backups.

At QB behind Josh Nesbitt, why not Cooper Taylor? A 3-star "ATH" recruit who was a triple-option QB at Marist. He's 6'4 but apparently has the wheels as he had offers from both us and UVA as a WR/S.

I've seen Taylor play a good bit this year and up until the coaching change I was thinking the only postion on gailey's team that he would play would be a safety. Or possibly TE if he put on some weight. With his experience in his HS offense he definitely has more value under a PJ offense than he would under a gailey team.

Well...Mike Cox is not a bad runner for a NFL-type FB. He actually played TB in high school.
Quincy Kelly and Trevor Bray (both former TB's) are probably both more agile at this point. You can see film of both of them on Rivals or Scout. If you remember...Kelly was also an OLB.

It really just depends if he is going to use a bigger FB like the spread offenses at WVa and Illinois...or stick with his smaller FB's like at Navy.

Look for Jaybo Shaw to de-commit from Middle Tenn State and come to Georgia Tech. He would probably be forced into early PT as a backup since Nesbitt is the only QB on the depth chart that can run the option.

Sewak is a fine football coach, and knows PJ's spread option probably better than any other coach out there but PJ. He was the OC at GSU while PJ was there and took over as HC when PJ went to Navy. Mike was 35-14 in four years at GSU, but that wasn't good enough for the GSU crowd. Hard to imagine averaging nine wins a season not being good enough, but in Statesboro the expectations are high. PJ had a lot to do with that.

If Sewak does come to GT, you're getting a very personalble guy with great football knowledge.

Sewak knows PJ's offense like the back of his hand, AND he happens to be a former teammate/roommate of JT at UVA. Hmmm.......
orly?

This year's recruiting class could get awfully interesting.

The beauty of what Chan left behind at RB/FB has to make PJ giddy.

FB:
Quincy Kelly -> Probably a big, big RB than pure FB. He has a good shot at being the 3rd back/H-Back if we do the wishbone type looks. Very good hands also.
Trevor Bray -> coming off injury but is BIG and also has RB skills.
Luke Cox -> About 245-250 and reportedly nice FB also

RB:
Evans -> the forgotten man. Nice RB also.
Dwyer -> Big boy with high end speed. Should be good on counter-action plays, up the middle, off tackle, but I didn't see his early season agility as the season wore on. Probably needs to drop a few lbs.
Roddy -> Pitch man deluxe. The thought of Nesbitt and Roddy going 2-on-1 with a DE, LB, or CB will strike fear in every team's heart.

We got OPTIONS... I just hope we use our RB depth next year. It's silly the lack of carries Cox got last year. Limited use of Dwyer is silly as well. 4 of these guys (plus Nesbitt) should touch the ball each game. Throw in a few end arounds to Earls and we should be varied in playcalling and players as well.

Mike Cox was a running fullback.

HIGH SCHOOL: Rushed for 1,326 yards and 18 touchdowns while catching 20 passes for 415 yards...Single-game best of 224 yards

Chan's utilization of his fullback was his second greatest failure.

All PJ has to do is pop in a highlight tape of Adrian Peterson at Georgia Southern. He played the fullback, or "B Back" in this offense, and dominated. He's the gold standard to this point, Dwyer could end up being the platinum standard.
