The Unholy Magic of Hooville

UT played Virginia in 1927 (but in Knoxville) but Dodd didn't join the team until 1928. UT didn't play UVa when Dodd was playing there (1928 and 1929).

So the short answer is that there is no evidence Dodd ever set foot in Charlottesville as a player or as a coach.
I actually knew that, and asked the question rhetorically. But didn't know the part about him as a player at Tenn...good info!

To get psychobabbly about it. We have played most of our opponents at their psychological peak. Which sucks and is just part of the misfortune of this season.

A Miami team after a crushing loss to FSU and NOT undefeated is a mix different team than the one we faced.

A UT team at game one and Ranked is much different than the one now.

A Clemson team after a loss to chew on for two weeks and our game being the only potential stumbling block to make the NC State game mean anything sucked

And a UVA team being challenged to fight and make a bowl game sucked to play against.

Timing has a lot to do with everything.
Miami was extra tough because they did beat FSU... but Clemson was extra tough because they did not beat Syracuse? And UVA was extra tough because they might not make a bowl game otherwise... unlike us how?

You've convinced me that psychology is not a science.
