When you get kids from Georgia, Florida, Texas (Dixon + 2 WR's and now Pena), and California (Bowers-Wilkerson), normally you are getting some quality FB players. Have to believe Chan's former Cowpunk ties helped us with McGuire and Bridges. Probably helped us again with Pena.
I know R.C. Slocum at Texas A&M and O'Leary had a strong friendship and a gentleman's agreement to help each other's recruiting efforts. Meaning Slocum would help us find prospects in the Lonestar State and O'Leary would share information about kids we knew about in the Peach State. Slocum would rather lose a recruit to us than Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc. And vice versa. I think this has helped us in the past too.
Also, Miss. State isn't far from Texas. Jackie Sherrill knows the state of Texas well. So, I figure recruiting coordinator Wilson at Tech will push the state of Texas harder than ever in Tech's history.
