Things Have Gotten A Lot Worse Since Stansbury Supported Collins For Another Year, and Stansbury's Decision Must Be Reversed

People are freaking out because the bad news is hitting all at once instead of being spread out. Yes, things are bad. 3-9 will do that. The bulk of the recruiting class, (including two 4 star DTs, a 4 star QB and 4 star WR) will sign. Transfers will be added and Coach Choice will be replaced with a solid coach. We will field a team that can compete in our awful division next year. I say take a break and see what things look like in a couple of months.

I can't agree with you, because it seems to me like Collins and Stansbury are doing a really horrible job of communicating with the fans. I also think the "reporters" covering Tech are doing a pathetic job. Why hasn't anybody asked Stansbury and Collins about the loss of coaches, players and recruits, and why coaches of some of our worst units, like the defense and the offensive line, were retained? Up saw a press conference Collins had last week about the tragic death of Mr. Thomas. I know that was maybe not an appropriate time to ask tough questions, but when will Stansbury and Collins address the obvious and understandable concerns of Tech fans?

Still, I do appreciate you taking the time to give me a serious answer to my question. I hope the recruits you mentioned will remain committed to Tech. And I hope we replace Choice with somebody who will help. But, I will be surprised if I don't see more discouraging developments, when I check this message board tomorrow.

Nonetheless, I appreciate your thoughtful reply.

My dudes, just accept Collins is here for another year. Todd isn’t going to hitch his wagon to Collins and then turn around and fire him a month later.

The Brits had Spitfire, the best fighter plane in all of WW2, to defend the island against a German invasion and they had Churchill. We don’t have either of those things.

My point is more about the threats they faced than about their own toughness. The British even with the spitfire and with Churchill were not equal to the task before them. The Germans gave up the air campaign right before it would have been won to avoid further delaying their planned offensive against the soviets. The Italians turned out to be complete pretenders. But at the darkest hour nobody knew this. The British prevailed because they didn't trust their eyes and instead carried on not knowing how they could win.

The same example could be made with the soviets. We were terrified of them for decades, and they were a big potemkin village for the last half of it at least. We know this in hindsight, but not long before they collapsed learned observers were still making conflicting conjectures of their power relative to the US.

A lot of times it is easy to see the bad news everywhere, but not so easy to see what will matter and what won't. The case for GT football is that: in hindsight we will laugh about how gloomy we all were about stuff that didn't matter as we celebrate our generational victory over our college football enemies. We just can't see it from right here right now.

Stingtalk is basically Nietzsches arguing with Schopenhauers. No room for Leibniz.

On the 13th of May 1940 Chamberlain resigned as prime minister. 13 days later, the British were driven off the continent at Dunkirk. Two weeks later, Italy with one of the largest navies in the world joins forces with Hitler. 11 days after that, France surrenders. Less than two weeks after that the largest air battle in history breaks out in British skies, bringing terror and death to every major British city. It would rage for months while German U boats constricted supply lines to near famine levels, and then just when the British were on the brink of total collapse, planning to defend their shores with the horses and swords they had left...

They won.

Miracles do happen. That's the only case we have.

How many college football teams have had a worse post regular season than us?

Well, every time I look at this message board, something else discouraging has happened. Every time I talk to a Tech fan, I hear more of a "giving up" attitude.

Would somebody please give me a reason to feel any realistic hope for this awful situation?

What is the new argument for keeping Collins another year. We will lose more money than we'll save on the buy out, and sometimes desperate coaches make serious mistakes. So, what's the argument for not starting over right now?
The window of opportunity to make a change for next year has mostly passed imo. We are stuck with the decision for another half year minimum.
And to be honest I have little faith Tstan has the ability to find a good coach. One would hope he wouldn’t make another absurdly bad contract to the next hire but I’m not super confident about that either.
I’ll give Tstan credit for women’s basketball but I don’t think he has made any other meaningful moves.

…….bwahahahahahaaha!!!

We will win 5 and Collins will be back. I think it’s more likely he fulfills his entire contract and then continues with the program in some capacity than he is fired between now and Jan 1, 2024.

But, isn't Choice the greatest RB coach and recruiter in CFB?

Since Stansbury proclaimed he had "his man" and was giving Collins another year, many substantial and negative things have happened, which require his decision to be reversed.

We got embarrassed by a Georgia team that wasn't even up for the game, in front of a red clad crowd in Grant Field.

We are losing assistant coaches that were part of Stansbury's rationale for keeping Collins.

We are losing players that were part of Stansbury's rationale for keeping Collins.

We are losing recruits that were part of Stansbury's rationale for keeping Collins.

Collins has failed to address the biggest weaknesses on the coaching staff.

Collins has failed to address the fans.

So, many of the assistant coaches who can find other jobs know how bad things are now and are leaving.

Many of our players who can find other places to play know how bad things are and are leaving.

Many of our recruits who can find other places to enroll know how bad things are and are not honoring their commitments to come here.

Many of our fans know how bad things are and are not going to continue supporting the program financially or attend games until Collins is gone.

The only people who don't seem to know how bad things are, or who refuse to admit it, are Stsnsbury and Collins.

The rationales for giving Collins another year have completely disintegrated.

If Stansbury can't or won't act on this powerful and daily worsening new state of the football program and end the Collins era, he is not competent to be the Athletic Director at Georgia Tech.

Whatever the cost of starting over right now, it is cheap compared to the cost of keeping Collins another year.

I feel sorry for Stansbury and Collins. This is no reflection on them as people. But, continuing this is not really doing them any good, and it is severely hurting Tech football.

There is almost no hope this will be turned around by Collins in the next year. But, there is a lot of further serious damage that will almost surely be done by keeping him for one more year.

Please write and call asking Tech's President to step in and make the necessary changes, since Stansbury refuses to do so.

It might not do any good to do this. But, how can it hurt to try? This is a serious situation, and it seems to get worse every day.
Agree 100% except for the feeling sorry for them. And I’m glad it was said for the 1000th time. We need to keep saying it until it happens

I hope all the bitching and moaning from us motivates his @ss to get it together and field a competitive team. I really do and so should all of you.

Just goes to show how poor the leadership at Tech has become. What little leadership that is left is rotten to the core.
:shtstir:Gooff Collins is a joke. 3-9.

I’ll take the under - I figure two wins, one vs. W. Carolina and one ACC upset.

I agree with you. Get CGC a chance to right the wrongs. The new OC is respected by his peers. There are hundreds of players in the transfer portal. If he can't improve (Bowl Game) then make some changes after next season. Let's face it guys. With the transfer portal, the NIL and the current state of college football, GT should be happy to go to a significant bowl. Only four(4) teams make the playoffs.
