ridiculous!!!

Now we split the pie 11 ways and don't capture the NE market which was one of reasons to include BC and Syracuse in the first place and get that tv revenue. No Championship game per the NCAA bc we don't have 12 teams, either, for that revenue.

What is the point to add them then? This makes no sense unless they are going to add some others soon. But who? Don't count on ND...they aren't going anywhere. Marshall? Lousiville? whoopteedoo.

All the ACC has done now is diminish our revenues by splitting the pie, assure some arse whoopin on GT by Miami and VT (that is reality guys), and maybe get in some other weaker schools.

I'm starting to think Duke and NC aren't so wrong on this whole deal afterall.

When the BCS deal expires in 05 there will be NO pie to split for the 9 team ACC. Do not understand how people can not grasp the concept of what will happen then instead of looking at only revenues from the past. Championship game? That is secondary to BCS inclusion. We expand or die. TV market talk is baloney. People watch the games for the competition, not because a school is located in boston or ny. If the tv market mattered then nobody would have ever watch Nebraska vs OU.

Well, it may not be so bad. With Miami, the ACC captures a national audience, and further strengthens its football stature with VTech. This may be just as good as the NE market, with isn't exactly a hotbed for college football fans.

While you predict GT to have no chance against Miami and VT in football, it'll be 3-4 years before they come onto our schedule and this being college football, there's no way you can say that far down the road. We've been extremely competetive the last four years against FSU, who hasn't exactly folded against UM and VT. But for the bounce of the ball, or the call of a ref, we could have been 4-0 against the Injuns. I believe your pessimism on this point to be unwarranted.

Sorry, I call a big "BULLSH_T" on that one.

What have we gained?

How about being able to walk into a top prospect's house now and tell him that he'll be playing traditional powers FSU and Miami. Up and coming power Maryland (who I think is about to build something consistently powerful). You also will get to face traditional top 20 Va Tech and Michael Vick's younger brother.

Who's to say that NC State and Virginia won't become consistent Top 30 teams in the direction they're headed.

We need offer no apologies to anybody but Boston College and we damn sure don't need to feel that the Duke and UNC presidents had a clue. They didn't. Conference teams would be JUSTIFIED in running up the score against those sorry ass programs this year if they can. (We probably couldn't but there are some that could)

In football, and let's be quite honest, it is football that butters the bread, this is a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT over the 9 team format we continue to wallow around in. Assuming UM and VT accept, the conference gains instant credibility.

As for the 12th team, doesn't matter who it is unless it's Florida A&M. Louisville, Central Florida, whoever. If there's justice, the next thing the presidents should do is change the by-laws to require only 6 votes and then pursue Boston College again no matter the cost. THEY GOT SCREWED in this ordeal.

Finally, Clough (if he's here in Atlanta) needs to send a bouquet of flowers to Piedmont Hospital today and prospectively welcome Coach Beamer to the conference.

yeah, you're right. tv markets don't matter. Just go ask the networks and the packages they sign with conferences. keep telling yourself that its baloney. Admit it or not, but this is all about revenue and money.
