This is a big week and clearly...

I do think Andre Ellington, Sammy Watkins, and DeAndre Hopkins are going to eat our no tackling defenses lunch. Kinda scary really.
I have to think that MTSU was some kind of cathartic wake up call and that we are going to show up and play well. Looking back, we pretty much kept VT in check for 59 minutes - maybe we can find that mojo again.

I'm starting to come around a bit. Not optimistic about winning at this point but I just don't see Clemson laying an epic butt whoopin on us.

Maybe I believe that because I really think it or maybe I believe it because the alternative is something I just can't process at this point.

Can't remember the last time I was this nervous going into a game. Seems like the future of our program is hanging in the balance.

Oh get off your high horse and agenda. You don't know how to coach. You just know how to be a jerk. You've always been that way.

If they felt Vad was the best way to win, he'd be starting. They trying to bring him along. He's obviously not ready yet.

I to want Vad to play more, but I don't want him to be pushed into doing what he can't.

I'm not a jerk. Just PO'd we've been starting a guy who clearly gives us ZERO chance against Georgia.

It is fair to say that I "have an agenda" in that regard I guess.:hsughcry:

Forget defense in this one and score everytime we get the ball. Can not have a turnover at all and need at least one takeaway from them. ala/ Baylor-west va.
Formula for success:naughty:

I am in the camp of wanting to see more of VL, but it does sound like CPJ does feel that he is still not ready, so my question to those of you who have seen him and know the offense is:

What do you think is holding up VL's developement? I would not have thought that the O was that difficult to learn such that a known good QB who is athletic with both passing and running skills and presumably leadership skills as POTY in NC cannot seem to grasp the basic TO playset in his second year.

I mean JFN was pretty much thrown to the wolves in 2008 with no previous TO experience and with limited passing skills. I know he was a strong leader but certainly could not have had time to have a very good grasp of how to properly run the O in his first year under CPJ.

We all know that he had a huge desire and was physically strong, and did lead by example.I am puzzled why our O is seemingly too difficult for a pretty decent QB to be able to be at least basically proficient at running it after nearly 2 years.

Would like to hear thoughts from some of you who know the system and also know more about VL and his skillset.

TW has played his heart out but there is mounds of evidence that he cannot make the big clutch play at the end of a game to get over the hump, and very little reason to think that he will be able to do so at all. Why is this so insurmountable?

What is stopping Vad from playing? He throws the ball too well for PJ's offense to succeed.

If it is not clear after 5 games, it is because he is not ready.

Read between the line "Tevin gives us a better chance to win" and the action of 2 1st half drives (Presby & MTSU).

...or continue with the conspiracy theories.

Or... our coach, like our previous one, is being hard-headed on this issue. If you have blind faith in Johnson, that's great. I sure as hell don't.

People are still putting hope in this season?

Undefeated in the ACC in regulation!

Explain to me this hard headed conspiracy theory.

Vad Lee is CPJ's recruit - its not like he's a step child.

Are you saying that CPJ is stubborn because he does not want to throw this season away in order to throw Vad Lee into action?

Stubborn because he refuses to scrap our run based triple option mid-season to capitalize on our stud backup QB, stacked wide receiving corps, and stellar pass protecting offensive line?

It seems that you have blind faith in Vad Lee.

New conspiracy theory: CPJ is holding Vad Lee back so he and Justin Thomas will have nearly the same experience going into the off-season QB competition.

Were you part of the fanbase that expected Taylor Bennett to start over Reggie?

This is stupid. The offense with Tevin as starter is averaging like 39 PPG. It's not like he's out there and we're having trouble scoring 20.

Why is it that anyone that wants to see a QB change is painted as either a Tevin hater or a Vad lover???

Can't it just be that we are tired of wasting our Saturdays watching mediocrity? Personally, I'm just ready for a CHANGE...tired of football that's like eating unsalted soda crackers.

Combine the call for change with some of your guys' HOPE and we've got ourselves a successful campaign!

It has come to me reading player quotes, coaches comments, and looking in past history that we were victim to the hang over. Lost to VT in OT which was very, very hard on the team that had yelled 9/3 all summer, then exact revenge on UVA in a big way only to get beat again in OT to Miami who have beaten GT 4 years in a row now.

It's not the first time it's happened in CFB either. See VT and JMU after Boise. Hell see UGA vs. Colorado. Colorado is an awful team that MTSU could destroy.

Yes it's one of the worst losses in GT history, but I offer when has GT had to play 3 divisional teams in 4 weeks right off the bat and lose in OT to two of them? That's probably historical too.

It's not an excuse, but it does shed some light on the situation.

Now comes Clemson. If GT can beat Clemson on Saturday the MTSU loss will be forgotten. When VT went on a tear after losing to JMU it was hardly ever mentioned again by media.

Georgia Tech has to take care of Georgia Tech and get it done.

The team clearly has problems. Average QB, secondary issues, inconsistent blocking. But I think we'll all be surprised what a little ride on the win train will do for them. They need that big win they were so close to getting twice in one month. The collective wind was swiped from their sails, now it's go time.

I am over it and back on board. Let's go beat Clemson! Go Jackets!

I'm fine with this approach. Calling for a change and expecting things to improve is much different.

Yeah, that change worked well in the third series last week. If you want to see the defense quit, bench a team leader who has been putting points on the board for a redshirt freshman turning the ball over and going three and out.

:bowrofl:

The team quit because we played Vad Lee?

This is the funniest website on earth.

No, he said IF you benched the starter and started Vad, you'd see the D quit. He's probably right.

He gave the third series last week as an example that Vad wasn't ready, not as the reason the defense quit.

He could have worded it better.
