This Is Exactly What The People Running Tech Want

How do you know I'm an idiot? I might just be a genius who seems stupid for the first three years you know me. I mean that is your argument, isn't it? Collins is a great coach, he just looks like a terrible coach. But, if we just keep feeding him four million dollars a year for a couple of decades, well, one day he'll turn into Vince Lombardi.

What if NIU has a good team this year? What if we rattle off several wins this year? What if turning the roster over requires patience? If we win more than you expect, will you start 8 redundant long winded threads about something positive? Your posts are always the same.

What if the Taliban suddenly decided they are all going to convert to Christianity? The odds of all are about the same.

Question: "What if NIU has a good team this year?"

Answer: I will wonder how their coach took an 0 - 6 team and turned it into a good team during one off season, and I will wonder why Collins couldn't do the same thing in three years.

Question: "What if we rattle off several wins this year?"

Answer: We "rattled off" "several" wins in Collins' first two seasons. "Several" isn't enough any more. I think we'll win this weekend and I think we'll win one or two more. But that won't be because of Collins' coaching. That will be because there are a lot of really bad teams on our schedule. In most of our games this year, one of the two bad teams on the field has got to win.

Question: "What if turning the roster over requires patience?"

Answer: If Collins were a good coach, we would be seeing progress. There is none. Every good coach at least puts a fundamentally sound team on the field by his third season. Every single one. No exceptions. We have given Collins more than enough "patience" to put a fundamentally sound team on the field. He just can't do it. I would be much happier if he could. Much happier.

Well there was Paul Hew......oh crap, nevermind.

nobody cares about your opinion.
Wrong forum. What we have here is when political soreloserism combines with football soreloserism

You answered all of my questions but the last one, which is pretty telling.

Do you think Collins is a good football coach?

Do you think Tech is a fundamentally sound football team?
I think that Collins can be a good coach for us. The jury is still out on that for me. Also, he has a big buy out and a 7 year deal because everyone knew that this transition was going to be painful, and I don't have the money to buy him out, so I'll refrain from tearing down the team. We are bringing in young talent. On that we can agree.

Which fundamentals are you talking about? I don't think you care if we are fundamentally sound if we win. We didn't have many penalties, I suppose. Our kickers and special teams are getting blasted, but I think that's not entirely fair. The first long kick looked good, but hooked out. Cimaglia slipped on the second kick. The third was a desperation try from an absurd distance. The blocking looked much better. The kick returns looked good. The punting was good.

How many wins will it take for you to quit whining?

Thank you for your honesty.

You said, "I think that Collins can be a good coach for us. The jury is still out on that for me."

So, we agree he's not a good coach now. But, you think we should keep him, because you think he might become one.

I don't.

Ok, well pony up for his buyout, or stop whining.

To answer the OP’s question, sometimes I scratch my head. Whether it’s politics, business, agency, or even family, leadership begins at the top and trickles down.

I think they are very happy to see Tech be horrible in football. I think this is exactly what they want to see on the football field.

They think not being competitive in football is a sign of academic superiority.

Being like Vanderbilt and Duke in football is just where they want to be.

The people running Georgia Tech are not even trying to win in football. Having a decent football coach would threaten them.
Lol. It sure seems that way sometimes. But I doubt it.

But football is most certainly not a top priority at Georgia Tech like it is Georgia and Alabama. If there are “ hundred dollar handshakes ” at Georgia Tech, it pales in comparison to what goes on at UGA, Clemson, and The Factories. And to be flat honest, as a Tech alumni I’m kind of proud of that.

Losing to The Citadel and NIU are historic and completely unacceptable loses. But I doubt anyone on The Hill even knew who we played Saturday, let alone cared about the outcome.
