This is the QB I want for GT & GSU

A game changer using PJs Spread Triple Option attack.
He turned down U of F as a running back and wanted to play QB. Erk Picked him up and he was "ONE" of big the reason why PJs system became so successful at GSU. We had many great QBs that ran the Spread Triple and won us FCS National Championships but Tracy Ham, IMO, was the total package for Triple Option QB. Ham read the defense, made the right calls, was quick & fast, and could pass.
There has to others like him if GT and Southern look .

4 min. video with PJ and Tracy Ham

If GSUs new Head Coach can duplicate GSUs 2014-15 (pistol option attack) with our new QB, supposedly a duel threat, we should rebound well.

Still I think with the right personnel PJs version is Superior.

**** (I would love to see GT at full strength offensively & defensively and make the playoffs!)

Damn you - you just made it dusty in here.
First person to speak was Nate. Nate was a good friend. I miss that guy.

Ham saved his best for when it counted most.
442 yards PASSING in the win over Furman in 85.
180 rushing and 306 passing against talky Arkansas State in the 86 STFU NCG, in one of the most sublime and dominating performances ever.

How do you know so much about GSC/GSU QBs?

His last 2 years at GSC were his best. He could read the T-option and pass in the Run and Shoot situation & still very effective with the play action.
Most of that total passing against Furman came in the 2nd half.

GT and GSU need new QB names to run our teams.

I don't want to out myself. But ... I have a longstanding relationship with Ga. Southern. I knew Erk personally and got along very very well with PJ and Monken and that whole staff.
I've lived in Statesboro twice. By choice. I have been to a ton of Ga Southern games. And when Erk and PJ coached (especially PJ), a ton of practices.
Oh, and my avatar ... not to out her ... but one of them is a former Ga Southern student.

I had many gripes about Chan but wasting one year of JN for meaningless mob up duty is at the top of the list

I don't know. Does rendering the greatest receiver in Tech history into an afterthought in the ACCCG not rank at the top?
Granted, burning a year of JFN was just stupid.

You may also have read comments from Graham’s coach for his first three seasons at Fitzgerald High, Jason Strickland. I’ll repeat some of them here, but he gave a very strong evaluation of what he saw out of James as his quarterback. (I’ll preface it by saying that no coach is going to say, “That kid was a total waste of my time,” but even still, his comments made an impression.)

I asked him what first came to his mind when he thought about Graham.

“Extremely charismatic and then just crazy dynamic athlete,” said Strickland, now the coach at Pierce County High. “I’ve been doing this thing for 20, 21 years. I’ve been fortunate to be able to coach a lot of good football players. I’ve told people, he’s not the best football player I’ve coached. But he’s the best athlete I’ve ever coached. He just does stuff that, I don’t know, it just kind of makes you shake your head sometimes, figuring out how the human body can do that.”

As far as his athletic ability, I asked what he meant in particular, i.e., speed, strength, agility, etc.

“All of it,” he said. “Change of direction, jumping, just absolutely, full-speed, wide-open and able to come to a complete stop. He just does things that normal humans can’t do.”

I asked him later particularly about his ability to play quarterback.

“He’s a guy that, obviously, is a tremendous running threat, but he’s got a dynamic arm and he can throw it a country mile,” he said. “He’s still got to work some on his accuracy; he’s gotten better in that area.”

who gives a öööö about Southern's QB? This is a GT forum, not a Southern one.[/QU
I placed GSUs QB Tracy Ham there because he was the Best Spread Triple Option QB GSU had.
A GT poster put up Vince Young as his pick.

You can go back and look at there States if you like.

If GT had QBs like them in there day you'd have several National Champion ships by now.

The problem with you Rainbow92 is that you do not understand PJ's spread Triple Option and don't respect any success that its brought other schools.

You have contacted Urban, RIGHT?

Eather pick would have been a great one for GT.

I want this one with 4 full years in the system.

God bless he was a man

Exactly. Every team other than GT can go 0-12 for all I care.

It's laughable that anyone would think that More Offense will win us the natty. We had a top-2 offense in 2014 and still lost 3 games. Justin Thomas was every bit as productive in our offense as some 1980s "couldn't play for P5 schools" QB.

You gotta play on the other side of the ball too. Maybe CPJ can dig up Erk Russell's body and let him be DC again, if we're gonna keep trying to bask in the Georgia Southern glory days of 30 years ago.

Until then, take that shit to GSVultures.com or whatever hell stupid ass website is for idiot Southern fans.

Your right Dis, & Rainbow, both Offense and defensive play need to be good to compete.
I'm sorry that PJ has not had the consistency that GT needs to keep you in the top 10 each year, but he has done it before & with the right staff, a good defense, great offense, a nd just a few Super stars, I think he will be able to.

Dis-Respect & Rainbow Brite- Erk does not need to be resurrected for GSU to return to greatness, but some lessons could be learned from his coaching.
Your constant use of Quod “O”s in your posts to me , to represent profanity, is stupid. Then again you are of a simple mind.

Erk's first GSC Defensive & Change to the 4-3

When Erk first came to GSU he installed his Junk Yard Dog Defense that he used during his stay at UGA in the SEC. The SEC during his time there was heavily run oriented and his defense was one of the top ratted defenses in the SEC. In 1984 his defensive Coordinator, at GSC, and some his defensive staff flew down to the University of Miami to review the 4-3 with Miami's defensive coaches. Erk didn't know about the trip until they came back. The GSU defensive Coordinator met with Erk and talked him into going with the 4-3 to increase pass defense. Erk gave them permeation to install the 4-3 at GSC.

One of the Great things about Erk was that he was flexible and believed in his DC & OC.

Why Erk change from the I/Power I Triple Option to PJs Spread Option

At the same time PJ and the then Offensive coordinator in ,1984, flew out to Texas and 2 other states to look at the Run & Shoot and several other offensive
systems.. (Erk did know about that trip.) Erk would not go with a Pass happy offense like the Run & Shoot. He wanted to stay with the triple option. In a compromise PJs Spread Triple Option Attack using basically a Passing formation, single Full back behind the QB under center, 2 slots back and 2 wide outs. Erk also allowed a simple Run & Shoot be added to the base play action passing attack. The spread option spread the defense a lot better and increased the threat to the defense with 2 extra receivers near the line. A Slot in motion also set up the offense better for counter plays.

Let's not forget about this guy. He may not have been the best at running the system last year, but I'm not sure we had a QB with more electric plays than this in one year.

Looks good.Odd quirk--excluding the QB 1 yd dives every play but 3 basically went to right side--80%? or so.

Southern was still split 60 back in 85 and 86. I don't think they could have afforded to fly to Miami that early into the program. Didn't go to 4-3 until 88 under Mike Healey, as far as I remember.
Because I talked to him about it.
Southern also was running the I back in 84.

Regardless, PJ hasn't had a passer of Tracy's capability at Tech. But those are hard to come by. JT was probably the best. Tevin didn't have Nesbitt's or Tracy's arm strength but was capable of running the offense. Tracy wasn't a burner but ran well. He wasn't a gone in a flash guy like JT or Greg Hill.
Tracy was good at turning a bad play into a great play. He dropped the snap a bunch. One of the first things said in the huddle was almost always, "Tracy, don't drop the snap!"
Picking another QB to run PJ's offense (and not Vince Young. Not with his wonderful Wonderlic score), I think I might choose Tommie Frazier. If I was going to take a pure option QB, I'd take Jamelle Holieway.
