This just in Mark Richt is a total ass hat...

I don't think he's necessarily wrong. In fact, I don't think you can go wrong with any of Florida, Alabama, Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, or Penn State playing in the title game. Who's to say who is better? Especially among the first five, who all played brutal schedules and came out with only one blemish.

Almost none of the coaches are very smart when it comes to the coaches poll. CPJ summed it up really well, and one of the main reasons is that they don't have time to watch any teams other than their own and the teams they play.

I stand by the addage that if you can't win your conference you shouldn't play in the title game...I do think Texas should have played in the Big 12 CG, but that is another debate. As is this...

I'm not surprised. This kind of thing happens all over the place. Coaches's have an agenda to make their team and their conference look as good as possible. Mike Leach voted Oklahoma 1 and Texas Tech 2. Richt is an ass hat because he's a teflon coach at UGA, not because of how he votes in the coaches's poll.

I wouldn't mind watching UF / Bama again - one of the most entertaining, hard-hitting games I've seen this year that didn't involve GT. Oklahoma is going to be introduced to a new concept when they play UF - hitting.

I would agree with you! Why not vote for your own conference! Why not give him a little more credibility? Knowing that it wont happen because of the west coast votes, but at least he stands for the SEC teams. My wish is that we had our own teams in the NC game. We're not there yet, and neither is FSU and Miami.

Speaking of FSU and Miami, if they continue down the path they've been going<especially since MR left FSU>, the Gators will be there every year anyway! That fella, Urban, has carte blanche on any recruit he wants!

Who's to say any of the top 10 teams could not beat each other? I would love to see a USC vs. Ok and a Tex vs Fla quarterfinal with the winners playing each other. But then who is to say Penn State might have won it all.

Did you see the Red River Rivalry? That was an excellent game. The Texas vs. Texas Tech game was great, as well. Here is the SEC bias showing up once more. If only the SEC knows how to hit, then how come there are so many excellent defensive players in the NFL who didn't come from the SEC?

Why is it that the ACC had the most NFL draftees last year? Yea! ;)

Agree on six of seven; disagree on "first five" having any greater claim than USC or Penn State.

Texas Tech doesn't belong in the conversation IMO. They squeaked out a win at home and lost in epic fashion for their "one loss."

We just don't know how the conference leaders match up against each other. Maybe USC or Penn State could take them all (would bet on USC more than Penn State.)

It is possible to have a split championship again this year. If USC or Penn State looks impressive then it is a legitimate argument that they have are equally impressive.

and a complete SEC homer. He voted that Bama vs. Florida should be the BCSCG, leaving out any Big 12 Team. Probably also thinks that UGAg should be playing in a BCS game and no ACC school should be in a bowl game because it isn't a real conference and their players don't jump over people.

He's a dumb ass. Any top 5 team that loses in December does not deserve to be in the NCG when there are so many other quality teams who have not lost lately.

Like Ohio State last year or two years ago? I don't see why a loss near the end of the regular season should count any differently than a loss during any other team. The whole "the regular season IS a playoff" is completely bunk, because (paraphrased from ATH) you don't normally beat a team in a playoff and then watch them go to the championship game over you like Texas did this season.

College Football wouldn't be what it is without all this debate. Texas got hosed by a tie-breaker. It's a shame, for simplicity's sake, they couldn't pull out the road victory over their 4th straight ranked opponent in 4 weeks, and Baylor couldn't quite hang on to a 14 point lead over a TTU team when Harrell's other hand was all kinds of busted.

I am not sure what you are saying. But the Big 12 phucked up when they went to the BCS rating as the tie breaker vs a heads up win. A loss in December means a hell of a lot more than a loss in October or November, it's the way it is.

Alabama lost in an extra game that against a guaranteed quality opponent late in the season that neither USC nor Ohio State have to play. The SEC, ACC, and Big XII teams are at huge disadvantages to other conferences using that logic. And whenever the reason for something is "it's the way it is" or "just because," that usually means there is no real reason.

Dude, how many times you have to lose within one month to not know you are the champion? This ain't a best out of 3 contest.

I know it's not a best out of 3 contest. It's also not a playoff. And it's not a round-robin. So I guess it's whoever loses first is the champion? Just seems like a weird criteria to base a championship on. Of course, last year LSU lost their second to last game of the season(to an unranked team) and was still awarded the championship, so I guess this whole "how many times do you need to lose within one month" thing only applies to this season.
