This Was A Totally Different Ball Game Than Last Year…

OK, based on this response, I think you need to admit that you don't know what you're talking about. Admittedly, you haven't seen them practice.

Meanwhile, I'll continue to be frustrated with the D, but try to understand how outmanned we are this season on that side of the ball and that we've played two top 15 offenses so far. I'll also keep on trusting Key and his staff to make improvements that are already happening on offense, and with Birr now kicking, maybe even on ST's.
No, based on this response you can recall I have been talking about what we have vs what we don’t have. I’ve even said I’m ok with losing as long as we don’t look completely inept for large sections of the game.
Do you feel it is a sign of good coaching to look like peewee football at times on national tv? Is it just ok because our former coach was a clown? Is it ok because we want Key to be successful? The answer is no, it’s not acceptable.

You beat me to the punch saying the above. I think he's just mad at losing. Welcome to the club. But just saying "try harder" won't beat teams with better players.

The disagreement may be that some of us don't think we looked that inept, but merely overmatched for most of the game. Sometimes being overmatched can make you look inept. That's why better teams win.

It's never good to look bad on national TV, or any other time, TBH. However, that was a 24-17 game early in the 4th quarter, and 27-17 with 5 minutes left. That's not looking completely inept, by my definition. Maybe it is by yours.

Yes, I am frustrated by poor tackling and by a DB that seems unwilling to deliver a blow to a ball carrier, instead trying to arm tackle their way to a stop. That won't happen against any good team. That's the main thing that I would change, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Key stood up front and said he's seen enough arm tackling and it will change going forward. That's a very Key thing to say and it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to hear him say it. What is happening with the front 6 is entirely predictable given our well-documented losses from last season.

Yep, let's all be angry and yell at clouds.
You are the one with your head in the sand. We have looked at times this year just as bad as last year. It’s not being physically overwhelmed, though that is coming. Just too many WTF moments going on.

Bro, you still want to argue your point without listening to anything I have said. We have sections of games where we are completely out-coached. The players could be upgraded. It’s the coaching.

Our talent is one-sided- This offseason we have to upgrade our defensive coaching and players just like we did for the offense

That's because I didn't see us being out-coached last night, I saw us out-talented. This is our basic disagreement, I guess.

Our O put up almost 500 yards and had almost 40 minutes TOP. We were in no way outcoached on O, though there are still improvements that can be made. They blocked a FG attempt and we blocked a FG attempt. We were not outcoached on ST, though our ST needs to improve (and I think with Birr kicking it will). We had given up 27 points with 5 minutes left to a top 15 offense. That's not being out-coached, as much as it is out-talented. Did our D make some bad plays and tackle poorly? Yes, and that certainly reflects some substandard coaching that needs to change. I don't know that we were vastly outcoached, though. That was a 10-point game with 5 minutes left and our O was still moving the ball pretty well. The D seemed to quit at the end, and that bothers me greatly, and reflects more on the heart of the players than the coaches, but it is surely up to the coaches to correct that. If it continues it becomes coaching problem.

Care to cite examples of "coaching" and what you would do differently?

Already asked this. You and I want to give this staff a chance. However, understanding that Thacker has been in his position now for 4+ years, his fanny needs to be very hot. IMPO.

Maybe this is a worse Ole Miss team than last year and we aren't any better. You can't compare year to year results, especially in the transfer portal era.

Thacker needs to be gone, but I'd like for people to understand exactly what he's coaching that isn't working is and how we can move forward.

I agree re: players giving up (3 TDs in 5 minutes) but that is 100% on coaches not players.

That's what HAS to happen imo. If these defensive players aren't embarrassed by their own individual actions when EVERYONE else can see it, then just maybe the the player fragility needs to be put on notice.

23 points is nothing special in 2023. We left at least 13 pts out there. O looked better but didn't play well enough to win either.
Finish a TD drive. Make a damn FG.

What good does it do to fire him mid-season? The better DC's won't be available until after the season.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this point. Blame the coaches for giving the opposition an opportunity offensively, but most any dipshit has to realize that Kiffin offenses arent laying down....they are in it to score points. Any DB has to know that. The fact that Ole Miss ran a post pattern and waltzed into the end zone untouched to break the game wide open ain't coaching imo.
