Thoughts on UGAy...

I think I pulled for UGAg in the Cotton Bowl one time. Versus Texas. Right before my divorce.
 
I don't think you've nearly classified all fans.

I won't try to, but I personally think the UGA is a good university with some outstanding schools. I'd let my daughters go there if they wanted and were in the right school.

I despise the athletic association that has habitually cheated to gain advantage, and when the opportunity arose to kill a major competitor's program, chose to do so. That competitor's program was GA Tech in 1978 when we were bankrupt and considering dropping football or going to DII. UGAG voted not to allow us back into the SEC, thus providing the needed capital to survive.
 
My greatest consolation

is that I know in some parallel universe, I am enjoying Tech's 100th consecutive win over the curs. In another universe, I am governor of Georgia so that I can shut the damn school down. I want to see their stadium shut down because all their fans got altheizmers and forgot to show up. I get conflicted when I think about whetherI want a quick, sudden, unexpected death for their university (sic) or a long drawn out enjoyable death.

If UGA had losing seasons for 5 years in a row or something like that the rivalry would lose importance and GTs OOC would suddenly be looked at as weak.

I have heard many older fans say that they hated Notre Dame more than Georgia back in the day and how do you think the older mutts felt when their kids told them GT wasn't really a rival anymore (2007 and before of course)? All I know is I will never want to hate any team more than Georgia and if that means they have to win a couple games besides GT then so be it.

I am not sure I agree with the statement on the Florida fans. I have a buddy who goes to all the Gator games and graduated from there in the late 1970s. He tells horror story after horror story. The infamous "Fourth and Dumb" game, the Gator 1 week at number one for the first time game where Lars Tate and company scored on 3 long touchdown runs, and who can forget "Lindsey Scott! Lindsey Scott!" Years of taunts in Jacksonville about the Gators not being tough and being outplayed by suppossedly inferior talented Georgia teams. I go to the Georgia / Florida game with him and have to listen to him release years of frustration. No, they hate Georgia almost as much as we do.

Well said. Took the words right out of my mouth. I'd love for them to be irrelevant. We have enough competition in the ACC to develop rivalrys there with VT, FSU, Clem, MIA...
 
Hey mustang GT, what a great day that was in Athens on 11/27. Here was Tech in the bowels of HELL, UGA had just dedicated a statue of Vince Dooley early that morning, and at half time with an insurrmountable lead (they thought)they carted out a half dead Larry Munson to a standing ovation!! Then to quote Munson"we stepped on their face with a hobnailed boot" !!!! Truly a great day to be a YELLOW JACKET!
 
I am not a Tech fan and never will be. I am a UGA grad and I hate everything about tech. From the crime ridden downtown Atlanta campus to the 55,000 seat second rate so called stadium. I have family that are tech grads and we generally get along except during football season. I rejoice when we win and hurt when we lose, especially to tech. I get tired of hearing about the large number of UGA fans with no connection to the school. The same can be said for tech. I know a number of tech fans that never set foot on a college campus much less attended tech. Those fans loyalty comes from long ago when tech was a major power and they weer indoctrinated by granddad and dad. I respect tech fans that are graduates as I do UGA fans that are grduates. I give little attention to thosed with no "dawg in the fight". I wish for nothing but pain and misery for anything that tech is involved in. I hope they lose every single game or match that any of tech's teams or organizations take part in. I hate tech with a passion and will never give any quarter. I am a devoted Georgia Fan and I do not cheer for any other team, not even a little bit.:biggthumpup:
