Fans, I want to ask your opinion on something. First, all here know that I'm a huge CPJ fan. That being said here is a thought that entered my mind in the library this morning.

We all know that CPJ plays to win every game but knowing that our chances for an ACCC is almost out of the question do you think IYHO that he might hold back a couple of key players for the nadlicker game? Recruiting implications, state rivalry and stopping their 7 game winning streak is weighing on his mind.

What are some of your thoughts?

I don't think it is in his nature to hold back.

I don't think so. I believe that he believes that we can and will win both games with whatever players are available to him that week. He believes in his system and his team. Maybe in that order.

But lets face it, he can see without digging to deep that he was hired to win that one game. We were only a year removed from going to the ACC Championship Game when he got here.

I think he will do whatever it takes to win on Thanksgiving weekend. Do that, and he becomes a legend on campus in one season. Win the Miami game, and everyone forgets about it the next week anyway, win or lose. So if he thinks holding back Josh/Jahi/whomever will get them to 100% for Georgia, I think he'll do it.

The uga game is important for obvious reasons. However, with that said, I don't think he will, nor should he, hold back in the miami game. I don't think it's in his nature as someone said before, and I think that it has just as much impact on recruiting to win on a Thursday night stage against a competent ACC foe. Even though the permutations don't look good for us going to the ACC Championship game, the possibility still exists, and CPJ will tell his guys to just take care of their own business and win out. The only way he rests key players are significant risk of injury (if Nesbitt is at least 90%, I think he goes), or if the scoreboard dicates so (hopefully in our favor)

I've thought about that too, 'mover. My hope is that he and Dave Wommack have been scouting Georgia all year. Absolutely dissecting every tendency they can find and looking for every weakness they can attack. Call it holding back or not, I hope they have some ideas not previously shown for the Georgia game. Lose 7 times in a row to your rival and it's time to use unusual strategies.

you have to try to win both b/c too many variables to hedge on ugag game.

The reality is he could hold Nesbitt out and we still lose both. I think you have to play them one at a time.

The problem w/ the Jaybo is arm strength IMO. So I would expect Nesbitt to play just b/c his passing is so much better. Jaybo probaby is better at running option then a 75% nesbitt but it seems teams are really selling out in the box so passing will become more important.

I dont think he will hold back anybody that is able to play. I do expect to see some play calls/formations, in the uga game, that we haven't see this year.

Exactly.

he in magically conjuring up new and humiliating plays for the nadlickers to look bad with.

I cant wait.

I believe some of the first words CPJ gave to the student body when we was announced was "to hell with georgia." he also said "believe me, this will be a rivalry again."

I don't think he has any players TO hold back. I think the only way he'd be able to hold back is by forfeiting.

I don't think forfeiting would do very well for our recruiting.

No way.

I think CPJ honestly thinks he can beat Miami and Georgia and a win New Year's Day bowl and he's going to give it everything he has to try. That begins with beating Miami.

I wouldn't want anyone who doesn't believe this coaching at GT.

Double thinking and sacrificing games is what fans do. As the saying goes, if CPJ starts doing that he'll be up in the stands with the fans in short time.

But what if we forfeited in black jerseys? I think that would be a really cool way to do it. Recruits love black jerseys. Maybe we could line up to kick off and then just pick up the ball and have the whole team run backwards into our endzone and jump around for the forfeit safety. If they did that in black jerseys and then starting playing leap frog I think I might cum.

Knowing that UGag will be watching the UM game, I suspect that CPJ might even go one step further than "holding back."

I think CPJ is going to throw a BUNCH of stuff out there to confuse the heck out of them. Stuff they will think we are rolling out in anticipation of our game with them but which we have no intention of using just to get them to spend practice time on useless stuff.

I couldn't be happier that CPJ will be leading us onto the field in that septic field the Dawgs call home.

One thing I'm looking forward to is our players not being tight. We have been tight and stiff the last few years (I attribute this to the players not feeling adequately prepared to win) when we need to be loose and confident.

I came just reading it!

No way!

all the recruits we are going after will be in the stands for Miami.

Sims
Cross
Myles
2010's
etc.

These recruits want to see us whoop up on Miami on thursday night.

We will worry about UGAy when the time comes.

I think we will see some new formations to give Miami and ugay something else to think about and prepare for. As far as plays go, we may have a trick play or 2 up our sleeve, but we have to get better at our bread and butter plays before we break out a bunch of new stuff IMHO.

While you were in the LIBRARY , I think you should have just FLUSHED :laugher: that idea and moved on !

All good thoughts, thanks for not flaming. I also believe CPJ will not hold back and as another poster said I believe he will throw some new wrinkles in the game to make the nadlickers worry a little more. I look for this game to be very physical and I know people might not have experienced this before, I know for a fact the cold weather will affect miami.

Don Shula finally had enough after 89,90,91 I believe after having to play in Buffalo in Dec. 92,93,94 we played down there in dec. Still kicked their arses though.

The canes will be finding all they can to put on to keep warm. It does affect you mentally.

Coach Johnson said that good teams don't lose two in a row, and I think he means that. I also don't think he'll throw anything in as a wrinkle. More then likely, he's got a few plays drawn up that we haven't pulled out yet, and they'd got a nice big "Do not open until after Thanksgiving" tag on them.

It's also senior night on Thursday, and it would be an absolute tragedy not to give everything towards a win for some of those guys.
