I saw where Threet will be heading to the Wolverines. However, I do have a question. Mallet is there right? If so, Threet transfered into a program that has a 5 star QB that was ranked #2 in the country and is in his same class. Also, I'm guessing that Threet will have to sit a year. If all of this is true, I wouldn't venture to think that Threet will ever see the field...barring injury to Mallet. What is the boards take?

Well, given that some here think that Threet is leaving due to him being scared of competition, what you're saying flies in the face of that at Michigan.

no biggy...was Aikman the last transfer to really lead his team. The other OU qb came from a small college.

Threet's lil woman probably got a "cheerleading scholarhip" to Mich.

The guy coming in next year would have probably knocked Threet out anyway.

Best of luck to Threet. Sorry to see him leave. With Nesbitt, now Renfree, and possibly Drew Little next year, we're still in good shape at QB.

Exactly.

I wanted Threet...he was my favorite of all that are on our current roster.

However we have Bennett for two years.
We recruited Josh Nesbitt last year.
We got Sean Renfree this year.
We will get Drew Little next year.

...assuming none get homesick.

Definitely disappointing to see Threet go - I was really looking forward to watching him develop over the next couple of years. As much as I hate to see him go, I know that a man has to do what's good for him, so I hope this decision works out him and I wish all the best to Mr. Threet - unless he's playing against the Jackets.

Threet knows the next Joe Hamilton when he sees one and he got scared of Nesbitt. I personally think that Threet will be Michigans Blake Barnes/Joe Cox. A great backup that will never touch the field.

Yeah, but he'll be at home, get a great education and may could care a whole lot less whether he gets his brains beat out in the NFL.

Young man making a critical decision. So far sounds smart to me.

We'll probably be alright. If I had a question it would be did Chan & Co do enough or are they letting them wriggle off the hook because we have enough already.

I know it's frustrating to lose Threet, but many who are now calling Threet just a solid #2 qb were hailing his arrival on campus earlier this spring.

I don't mind accentuating the positive - like the fact that we still have some good quarterback depth despite Threet's transfer - but please don't act like you never wanted the guy here and that you're glad to see him go.

No point in acting like you never took a liking to the kid just because he up and changed his mind.

Rather than whip him now that he is gone, let's give
him credit for where credit is due. His commitment
was critical , timing wise, to our successful class
last year & I will always be thankful for that.

are you kidding me??? the kid bailed on us because of a girlfriend!!! let me remind you he wants a late withdrawl?? NO F**KING WAY!!! kid needs to grow a sack and finish what he started, be a man and finish your 4 more weeks out in atlanta. i wont give him any credit for anything he did while at GT. bottom line.

FWIW, I never was all that excited about him as he looked a lot like lots of other QBs that never played at GT. But I am sad to see him go because he evidently had a ton of talent. UM just seems a better fit for him personally and football-wise.

Well said GTland03!

I personally was looking forward to Nesbitt way more than Threet. I like a running qb way better in college football. I wish that Bond would throw the option back into the swing if Nesbitt gets a start down the road.

Ditto. I like the triple option especially, and haven't seen it since Little Joe was here. When Joe tucked that ball and took off he looked like Barry Sanders tearing down the field.

Tend to agree GTland. This deep into the summer, the late leaving thing is a joke. However, although I think the guy played us in the end, he's just a kid and I wish him the best. I'm sure Chan feels the same way and quite frankly, we'll just have to deal with this stuff because I doubt Chan makes it difficult to leave, even though it's a drain on his football program.

Bottom line, Michigan was where he wanted to be all the time. Previously, the opportunity wasn't there.

When the opportunity presented itself, he grabbed it and ran.

Not hard to understand in retrospect.

i think chan was angry at first then thought about it some more and realized that Nesbitt would see WAY more time than Threet on the field from the get go. Threet would have red-shirted while nesbitt gets many snaps plus experience. Chan probably granted his release because deep down inside he knew that threet had a great possibility wearing the head phones while at GT. I mean lets all be honest here.....Renfree does look like the man to succeed the Bennett/Nesbitt legacy!! YES!!
