Thursday/Friday Games Thread

That was horrible but so predictable. No evidence at all to overturn it. But I absolutely knew they’d reverse to protect Miami. If roles were reversed, they’d confirm it for Miami too. The refs in CFB are more embarrassing than MLB umps. At least mlb umps are just bad at their jobs, CFB refs show their bias without shame.

VT has stanford, BC then us. Maybe they're 2-5 and completely demoralized by then so we can cakewalk to an easy win.

It clearly was loose after the VT player hit the ground, and it was bouncing around touching a Miami player who was out of bounds. What isn't clear to me is whether the VT player had control when he hit the ground. I think no but hard to tell

There was evidence. The call was probably correct. But probably != indisputable

The end zone is different. You only need possession momentarily to have a TD.
That is incorrect.

“If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent) he must maintain complete and continuous control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or in the end zone.”

It looked like to me the receiver went up, caught the ball, and came down with the ball in bounds. On the ground the ball was dislodged and was eventually carried out by a Miami player. There was no camera angle that caught the receiver all the way down to the ground to judge the ball security until he was down. The referees called it a TD on the field. This should not have been reversed. It was based on bias that can only justify the call by saying that the ball moving around after they are on the ground implies it must have been loose on the way down. But, there was certainly no irrefutable proof to overturn the call on the field. A great game by the two teams now is a blight on the league’s already bad reputation.

That’s what I saw (or didn’t see) as well. Hard to believe that they were able to see anything that would warrant overturning the call.

It looked like the VT player caught it in the air, hit the ground, then Miami player knocked it loose, but it was so quick and blurry on replay that maybe my eyes are lying to me.

öööö you VT. Assholes.

I don't think you can say it wasn't a TD
