Ticket Sales "Consultant" / White Out

I just got a call from a person at GTAA describing himself as a "consultant" for my ticketing needs. I am a former season ticket holder, I now live too far away to maintain them. Pretty good work to find me in the list of non-renewals and make the call. I already have tickets to the Clempson game from other sources, so I did not need to make a purchase from this guy.

However, the guy on the phone was pretty green and did not have a lot of info. He sounded almost like a college kid. I asked about the whiteout and he had not an idea about it, and thought that because it was student run and the students were giving away t-shirts to all GT fans. He could not answer any questions about how to acquire white shirts or anything, which leads me to be concerned about whether the non-student fans will have a way to buy or receive shirts. Anyone have an idea?

Yes, they printed that on the tickets too: "student sponsored whiteout." I thought that was a little weird; might leave doubt as to if just students are going to do it. Hopefully word of mouth lets everyone else know.

Dude, take a pill. I just asked a question.

I'm just aware that other schools have very organized programs to get every single person into the color of choice, with corporate sponsorships or whatever. Typically, for school spirit, they also have a common shirt for everyone. Not an unreasonable question.

I'm not worried about my white shirt (yes, I am familiar with the concept of retail purchases of shirts), I was more concerned about making sure that the thousands of more casual fans may not hear about the whiteout and we end up with partial participation like, uh, the Miami game last year.

I was also confused as to why they put "Student Sponsored White Out". Like the GTAA is disavowing responsibility for it? If you are going to the trouble of putting it on the tickets why make it ambiguous like that.

If we are going to do it, let's actually get together on it.

thanks razor, looks like the people on the ball this time and organizing selling similar whiteout tshirts to people at previous games.

Hopefully the AA can make it work, in the scout thread they discuss selling them at the Jax St game fore 5 or so dollars, which would be a great idea. I remember UGA announced a blackout on a Saturday and every sporting goods store had blackout shirts for $10 on Monday. It seems like we would be able to get some shirts out there like they did. We'll see though, I'll wear white either way.

Also putting Student Sponsored Whiteout on the tickets was incredibly stupid. Some old fart isnt gonna wear white because he thinks only the students are whiteing out.

BTW, I was at Sam's the other day and they have a nice white dry-fit shirt with the gold GT emblem on the front left for about $10-$12.

on the other hand, it shows that this is an initiative led by the students (including the team, who are students) and not the Administration for some commercial reason..

you can take it either way. the old fart is gonna wear what he's gonna wear anyway, or he wont be able to leave the house without having a seizure. to me, the Student Sponsored means, "somebody cares, so you care too!" but whatever

Agree- "student sponsored" is a cop out.

I have a Miami ticket stub from '06 that is embossed "WEAR YOUR GOLD" right across the front. Seems like "WEAR YOUR WHITE" would have been a little less confusing.

Regardless, I'll be in all white.

I'm happy it's student sponsored, that's great but they shouldn't have put it like that on the ticket. As flunkout said they could have put Wear White! Whiteout! They could have made the whole ticket white to stand out.

For the most part your right though, the people who wear white will wear it and the yetmans won't no matter what the ticket says.

The GTAA passed on the ticket design I suggested:

"Student sponsored" is just passing the buck for anything that may go "wrong."

I believe they are getting behind it, and they're trying to get students behind it by saying that. By saying that the students are "sponsoring" the white out, they're trying to build ownership of the idea with the student body.

It's not ambiguous, its student sponsored. Just like other organizations sponsor other events.
