Time To Get Some Answers About Bilbo - Or Let Him Transfer

How many times did you see Bilbo making bad decisions in the passing game versus Suggs? Bilbo sees the field better and makes better decisions than Suggs. What percentage of his drives ended in scores? Take out the ones that got killed by penalties and its even more impressive.

I read an interview with Vick inwhich he said he only had 20 or so plays per game while at Virginia Tech. I am not suggesting Bilbo has the atheletic skills that Vick has, but it shows that a team does not need 60+ plays to be successful with an atheletic quarterback with a strong arm. Bilbo reminds me alot of John Elway. Big, strong, fast (but not Vick fast), with an absolute cannon for an arm. The long TD pass to Watkins against Wake Forest (I think) was magical. There are alot of NFL QBs that could not have made that throw.

Unless Jonathan Smith is going to roll out on every play, he can not be an effective quarterback at this level. He is smaller than JH.

All these posts goes to prove what I have been posting all along that Bilbo is the one. I posted and posted, but all I got was rebutles. Now everyone has woken up to that fact. THANK YOU!! This also goes to show gailey doesn't get it!!!

I think CG does get it, he just thought Bilbo wasn't ready yet. Maybe he was wrong (easy to say at this point) but every comment from current players has been supportive of that.

Gailey and staff are the ones not ready yet. Except for Tenuta and the defense, I didn't see any improvement this year in any phase of the game.

Bilbo looked more like Vick from an athletic perspective than Shockley did. At any rate, damn it, it's time to give Bilbo the qb job.

The only downside may be the leadership factor, not quite sure the other players want to follow him and he may not know how to make that happen - this is where coaching comes in.

im pretty darn sure the players would follow bilbo over suggs anyday. plus you could see it the way the acted on the sidelines when bilbo is playing

ShadyJacket is exactly right. The team responds to Bilbo. Bilbo interacts with his teammates on the sideline. He cheers them on and the team cheers Bilbo on. The same is not true of Suggs. I am not saying Suggs is a bad guy. I am not questioning his effort. I know the players support their coach in their statements to the media, but their reaction on the sidelines speaks louder.

LOL.. Well Wasp.. call Gailey up and talk to him about it... as for the "Let him Transfer" position... I would think that is entirely up to Bilbo, and is not our place to suggest a kid transfers from Tech...

Since this is open season on next years quarterback, I will give my thoughts and opinion.

As I have stated many times, we have quarterbacks coming out our ears and some even transferred. Now, someone mentions Smith at quarterback.

The one obvious factor that all Tech fans could see, sports writers could see, TV analyst could see, and possibly is causing player problems is that Suggs reactions were too slow in both his mind and his physical performances.

With all the quarterbacks at Tech, why was another quarterback not inserted in Suggs position? It is mind-boggling to see the negligence by the coaches at this position. It does not take a shrewd football fan to see we needed to try another quarterback.

Bilbo was presented as the second string QB, because he was supposed to be very athletic and a very good passer as well. His talent was not used. I think it takes little imagination to believe he would have done a better job if he were left in to play for long periods of time.

But even if he did not play, why was there no other QB substituted in Suggs place? Unbelievable and unexplainable on the basis of athleticism and football production. There has to be another reason, and I feel sure that reason is being withheld from the fans.

Even if Bilbo was under some kind of punishment, then place him on the scout squad and put Camp in the game. I am convinced Camp or any of the other quarterbacks would have performed better than Suggs.

Placing myself in Bilbo's shoes, I would find another college and transfer. I have no doubts he would start at another school. In fact, since he was the second string here, means he was better than any other QB at Tech, plus the ones that transferred.

If Suggs starts next year, kiss next season "good bye". Why? If Suggs starts next year, the players will ultimately revolt and the season will be a disaster. I honestly feel if Gailey starts Suggs next year, he wil be placing the nails in his own coffin as far as the head coaching job at GT.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Exactly. I didn't think retards qualified at TECH.

I think the whole "Bilbo Plan" has been a gigantic fiasco. He needs to play QB. Trying to install a new offense around Fred with one year of elgibilty left would be completely inept. The gameplan/playcalling this year sucked (not Bilbo's fault) AJ (God bless him) "left a lot to be desired" (not Bibo's fault) and the staff has deemed Bilbo unworthy of a all or nothing shot. "Let's run Fred left, Fred right and maybe we'll win the game?" The only possible scenario I can see being less than stupid is that if Damarius' transfer to another program is more or less of a foregone conclusion.

Jacketguy, I would love to talk to Gailey about it, but all I have seen of him is with is arms folded about 30 yards from the team while we got the hell beat out of us with a dumfounded look on his face. Now I guess he is in hiding, trying to figure out how to spin this crap.

As for transferring, it pains me to see the players who have come to Georgia Tech in good spirit, who have put out, and can obviously help us win some football games sitting on their ass. It is one thing to watch it while we eek out a win over UNC or Duke, it is quite another not to try when your down 34-0 at halftime to your arch rival. The kid only gets four years of eligibility, if this staff doesnt want to play him, someone else will.
