I loved the backfied formation we ran without PJ in the lineup. The one with Grant at HB/TB, and JD at fullback. JD was positioned in the slot (looking for a better description) off to the strong or weakside between #1 and Grant.
By doing this, we were able to do so much more than stricty running a one back set.

What is the name of this formation?

I am in hopes that this was the beginning to an effective base for our running game as well as backfield pass bocking schemes.
Not to mention the options it gives in using JD as a short yardage receiving threat.

Your hep is appreciated!

Strong
In the Strong formation, the fullback is offset a bit right, on the same side as the tight end. The idea here is that you're loading up the right side of the formation with blockers. Run over this side or pass underneath after the coverage commits to the right. Strong plays normally happen quickly, and are designed primarily for short yardage.
