Tommy Bowden / Paul Johnson

Dude, no. I was at Clemson when Bowden was there, and there is no comparison. He was a decent recruiter but an awful coach. Clemson was a sleeping giant that Bowden was holding back. Dabo is a great coach, but there's a reason a real estate agent was able to turn Clemson into a powerhouse.

Here are some better comparisons:

Mike Leach 129-87 @ TTU and WSU (60%)

Bill Snyder 213-115 @ K St (65%)

David Cutcliffe @ Duke 64-68 (48%)

James Franklin @ Vandy 24-15 (62%)

Art Briles @ Baylor 65-37 (63%)

Pat Fitzgerald @ Northwestern 90-58 (57%)

Steve Spurrier @ USCe 85-54 (61%)

See some similarities? Here are some things they have in common:

1) All are at schools with some type of built-in disadvantage (some more than others)
2) All won at a higher level than their predecessors
3) All of their programs fell off the map when they left (it's inevitably going to happen to NW, Duke, K St, and WSU)

Literally none of those things are true for Bowden.

I have never understood why we can't leverage us being in Atlanta.
It's not for lack of effort. Do you hear the PA system in our stadium during games? Saturday I wasn't sure if I was at da club or at a GT football game. Miserable faces around me confirmed the latter.

Bowden 72-45 @ Clemson

Johnson 78-57 @GT

So my question is do we have any position coaches that used to sell real estate which can step up and turn us into a national powerhouse?
Tommy Bowden never had a losing season, if so he would have been let go earlier. They care about their program

Who has more victories against Top 25, Top 10, and Top 5 teams?
Who made "Clemsoning" and any variation thereof a thing?
Who has more ACC coach of the year awards?
Who has more ACC titles?
Who has more BCS/NYE6 bowls? And wins?

öööö off with this Tommy Bowden is in the same ööööing hemisphere as Paul Johnson.

What's the comparison to Kirk Ferentz (Iowa)? I feel like they fall off the map for a few years then make a run and he's been there a while. I don't have time to look for myself.

Edit: Took time to quickly look from Wiki and didn't fact check.

Ferentz: 148-98 (60%) - now in 20th season
2 Orange and 1 Rose
3 time division champ (02, 04, 15)
2 conf titles (02 and 04)
only 3 losing seasons and 2 were his first 2 at Iowa

Thankfully, the UN is generally empty except for UGAg and Clemmons

I thought Tommy Bowden "resigned" and was not fired. Like he felt he was burned out, not getting it done, etc.

They told him he'd be fired at the end of the season, and he said if he's not getting it done then they need to make the change right then.
