Top Ten GT Players

Its amazing how short writers' memories are. There are no players from before 1981. Castleberry anyone?

They specify in the article that they only considered players after 1975 or "modern era". I guess it's too hard to compare over a hundred years. I do think that Dwyer is going to bump someone before he's done.

I can agree with that list. Except, once again, Durant Brooks is snubbed. Dwyer may jump Choice this year, but so far, I would give the edge to Choice.

I love Dwyer as much as the next guy but let's not forget what Choice did. Dwyer has not done what Choice did yet. Choice will always be the first Tech back since 1950 to post back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons.

Do I think Dwyer is the more talented runner? MOST DEFINITELY...

Will I put Dwyer ahead of him on this list YET? NOT A CHANCE...

Dwyer may go down as the best we've ever had but he's not there yet.

So you definitely think Dwyer is better, but you won't put him ahead of Choice? I'm confused. If all you're doing is ranking by numbers then just pull out the stat book and list 'em.

We may have three on our team now who could crack this list if they stay all four years with Morgan, Burnette, and Dwyer. Their career numbers could get a bit gaudy. I think they're something special. I was actually very surprised to see D. Morgan picked to be the ACC DPOY in Lindy's. I didn't think he was getting that much respect.

Kelly Campbell and Tashard are the guys I question the most. Obviously they were not thinking to have Tashard over Eddie Lee Ivery. I do not care if Tashard had two 1k rushing years. Campbell's numbers are good and I remember him being very fast, but as far as top 10 players since 1975--that's pushing it.

Any top 10 list that doesn't include Eddie Lee is meaningless. This guy only lists players he grew up watching.

Drew Hill, even.
Refrigerator Mover!
Scott Sisson

Maybe it should be a top 20.
Drew's Tech career stats don't look all that great since we ran the wishbone his first 3 years. But I'd wager that his pro career is at least as good as anyone else who played at Tech since the 70s and maybe all time. Look it up...he's still 39th in all time NFL receptions and 33rd in receiving yards.

For those that haven't seen it yet, Dwyer is a very special back. Like you could field teams for 100 years at GT and may never see such a physical, athletic specimen playing runningback for the Jackets again. He will be GT's version of Bo Jackson or Hershel Walker. Enjoy watching him this year because he very well may not be here after this season.
