Tough Day To Be A Gailey Fan

Why? Because,4 years into this coach's tenure, we would prefer being evenly matched with Ugag, VT, and Miami...not with Virginia and NC State. That is a good enough reason for many of us.

I'm be pretty happy about being evenly matched with NCSU and UVA, unfortunately, you cannot say that we are since we lost to both.

I see your point. I was addressing those who seem to think being evenly matched with those teams is a lofty-enough goal for our program.

So, you're saying that GT is a football factory? Or should be?

True, T Bennett threw at a 40% clip in his only start. So what?
After 2.8 seasons, our starting QB has a percentage less than 50 this year.
That's not enough information to base evaluations on. I do think RB could be much better than what he is showing by the way.

I don\'t get it either.

Way below 50% and it isn't like we don't have decent receivers.

Coach taught him to throw away and avoid sacks too well IMHO. He needs to hang in there once in a while.

Re: I don\'t get it either.

if he 'hangs in there' more, we revert back to his sophmore year of chuck and duck - more INTs than we can shake a stick at.

No, I just read and re-read my own post, and those words, nor a hint of that, do not appear anywhere. Why is is that some on this board think everyone has to be at one extreme or another? Don't you think it's possible to not want Tech to be a football factory, and at the same time not be satisfied with 6-5 and 7-4 every year? There are, believe it or not, schools that are good academically and still compete for national championships.

Depends on what you mean by "good" academically. But there basically IS no other D-1 school with Tech's combination of limited curriculum and tough academics. That doesn't mean we can't do it, but there really is no one to compare ourselves to. We need to develop our own model, not worry about what someone else might do.

Stanford? Northwestern? MIT? Can you give me a list?

The problem of this is that you can't compare Ga. Tech to these schools.
Reason being is that Tech has a legacy in college football to defend.
I hope the naysayers won't regurgitate the win average over the last 40 years, and other stats that downplay our place as a winner.

The championships, Bowl win percentage, etc. mean something.
People seem to forget that our last champion season was a full decade more recent than the only one our factory up the road accomplished.

Well said ncjacket.

What does that have to do with getting Student Athletes in at GT?
History, bowl winning % has SQUAT with getting the student athletes in at GT.
Maybe we can tell the Hill all about our history and that WE DEMAND we let in athletes and we demand that the create easy classes for them.. yeah.... that will work.

What are you talking about?
Are you under the impression that we just recently dropped our Parks and Recreation program?

First non-engineer says this.

I asked for a list of these schools.

Sounds like you danced around my question.. What schools are on the top of each list? I'd really like to know.
