Something like that. I never met his dad, I just know when my buddy got on the phone with him, my buddy's entire demeanor changed and he was very "yes sir, no sir" on the phone.

Hopefully never. Salary caps will return the sport to pre-NIL era. The programs that have always had a well developed underground network of boosters and bagmen will be able to return to that system leaving the rest of us following the rules. I do think that the cap is coming because the uga’s and bamas of the world will be clamoring for it.

Totally agree. Let the market sort itself out. Whatever rules are put in place will only benefit those who have been cheating for decades because enforcement of rules does not exist. If Miami wants to pay a guy 4 million let them. When the ROI isn’t there they will stop doing it.
 
The transfer portal is the main issue right now. Establish common sense rules there and NIL payments will level out. Kids and boosters or contributors will have one chance to get right.

The return on investment varies from person to person. Some unreasonable people would say unless they win a championship they didn’t get a ROI. Some would be satisfied with just being competitive.

This reminds me of one of the funniest things I’ve seen in my life. We were hanging out at a beach with Tech friends. The grandfather was hugely wealthy from inventing some sort of organic chemistry process. The grandkids, who were about 21, were complaining that the 55k gallon pool was too hot (beachside pool on HHI in August). One of the geniuses goes and fills a 64 oz cup with ice and throws it in the pool. Then they all marvel because it didn’t cool the pool down. You could see the disgust on the grandfather’s face. He just shook his head and walked inside. I can only assume it was to go slap his wife.
