When did you discuss with CPJ?
Old coaches it's always possible; wasn't totally caught off guard; discussed this morning

100% CPJ decision?
Most definitely

Retirement or break?
In his mind, going into the unknown. It's up to Paul. Tstan, thinks he has more in the tank but feels he needs/wants family time.

Talk him out of it?
Not necessarily but made sure this is what he wants.

Who is ultimately responsible?
TStan to consult with others; Only though to make sure reasoning checks all boxes

(no search committee it seems)

System or type of offense...is that a factor?
It makes no difference. It's all about fit. GT is unique. The right person has to work here. Whomever puts GT football in best position to win.

What is the timetable? Prefer HC experience or ties to the program?
As quickly as we can. Recruiting is part of the equation but need to wait to make right choice.

What does "fit" mean in terms of the Institute?
 
First football hire ever for TStan.

Concerned he’s going to consult with Curry or think about Whisenhunt (former teammate). Whisenhunt wouldn’t be within miles of the radar based upon qualifications, just that he played here.

Fingers crossed that Tstan will pull a rabbit out of a hat. Someone wake up prez bud and tell him we have a football team and he can support it.

They didn't let him answer the question about hc experience or ties to the school. He probably would have given a non-answer, anyway but that was a pretty useless interview.

Absolutely. Ga Southern AD had a list two years into PJ's tenure there because he knew someone bigger was coming to get him.
 
11 Alive had a short ambush interview with PJ after meeting with players.
PJ: "I'm not sure I'm through coaching." But if it works out, great. If he gets tired of being retired, "I'll resurface somewhere."
And at the end:
"I'll always be a Tech fan."

If — and that is a big if — he comes back to coaching, I can see him at a D3 school, where you don't have to worry about prima donnas and your students are there to go to school first and play football second.
