Tuberville to Clemson

Dude, we are SO LUCKY that we fired Chan last year, before all of this went down.
I guess that's one way of looking at it. I just saw us lose some games we should have won, and blow a seventh straight to the mutts. That's not to say I don't love Paul Johnson. I do, and I am super ultra excited with what he's doing.

If we were firing Chan this year and they suggested one of {Fulmer,Tuberville or Bowden}, I would be PISSED.

Guys, I'm not a big Tuberville fan or anything; but come on. Fulmer has a national championship and I think a couple of SEC Championships, his teams in the 1990's were very good. Tuberville has an undefeated season and some other very good seasons in the SEC, and something like 6 or 7 straight victories over his arch rival which is no push over. Bowden on the other hand has a long string of underperforming teams with more talent than wins. Fulmer may be a has been, Tuberville may be a has been; but Bowden is a never was.

I suspect Tuberville is eager to leave because his support has been nonexistent in the Auburn organization for a few years now. I'm sure he is tired of it. Tuberville may just be saying, ok boys, go get this great coach you are so sure is jumping at the chance to coach at Auburn. Moving from Auburn to Auburn by the lake seems like a natural transition to me. I would rather recruit against and play against USCeast as my arch rival than have to deal with Saban Nation for the rest of my career.

Well, I guess I'll be one of the few contrarians, but are you really telling me you don't think Tuberville is an upgrade over Tommy Boy? I'm not saying he's coach of the year material, but he's certainly better than what they've had, he can recruit and he will put teams together that will be tough to handle. If it's true, I think Clemson has upgraded. Not as much as we did, but not everyone can hit a grand slam.

I sure hope this isn't true. TT can run a program. People's memories have become soo short term it's unbelieveable. He could make Clemson into a beast I'd rather not tangle with every year. Not saying I don't have confidence in CPJ. The power brokers for Auburn don't know what they have.

Tuberville is a pretty damn good coach. He is not a high elite coach, but he is definitely in the very good to low elite level. There are really only three or so coaches in the SEC that are better than him IMO.

I think Tuberville could do well at Clemson, and the fans would give him a couple years to turn things around. If he is allowed to stay at Auburn beyond this year, he'd need a huge year in 2009 just to keep his job. He might be looking at 3 years guaranteed versus 1 year (with the alumni and press breathing down his neck). Also, I'm sure he's been drinking the Kool-aid about the ACC being so much easier than the SEC. If he is actually given the job at Clemson there are plenty of reasons for him to jump.

...Plus, if he couldn't win at Auburn, why is coaching at Clemson any different? ...
He won quite a lot at Auburn. A crapload more than we've won.

Tubberville will be perceived as "another tommy" by the Clemson fans, so I doubt they hire him, but he would be a good hire for them.

The one thing that eases my fear of Tubberville is his record against Georgia Tech pretty much sucks. :)

Methinks ye missed the joke. Hog was saying "the reason he'll win at Clemson instead of Auburn is because Clemson has a lake." It's a reference to the old joke that Clemson is "just auburn with a lake."
