Turf Removed

I dont think we ever played on the field painted that way. That was done for media purposes showing off the new field and color scheme possibilities. I'll have to go back and find it but I believe we had gold endzones for one game, possibly 2. All others were navy or green.
The 2020 opener against UCF definitely had this paint setup. I know we had gone to unpainted green endzones by the time ND came to town that year. I have blocked most of that season out of my mind but I think it was still the same for our night game against Louisville, then gone permanently for the 73-7 Clemson debacle.

In 2020, we had 1 gold endzone and for some unknown reason, we never returned to it. This was the best that the coconut rug ever looked.

Guess I remembered wrong. We've never had both endzones gold. I could have sworn one game that season we did but we didn't.

First 3 games that season against UCF, Louisville, and Clemson we still had it painted this way, one gold and one navy. Then against ND, Duke, and Pitt, the endzones were green with gold "Georgia Tech" outlined in white. That was a good look.

All of 2021 was green endzones, gold lettering with white outlines
2022 first 3 games home games were the same, then Virginia game on Thursday night was the first time with 2 navy endzones. It's been that way ever since. Good riddance.

Yeah see my post above, I just went back and looked again. I guess I blocked most of that year out of my mind too. We apparently never had both endzones gold with turf, maybe it's time.

Shaw makes garbage. It is typical for a Warren Buffett/Berkshire company.
Don't you work for a company that makes fieldturf or partners with it or something? Have you heard anything about what brand GT is replacing the old with?

Which is exactly why I know Fieldturf is superior.

I know a few things, but I am not in the know. I do know we have sampled and entertained GT in turf, but don't know if we got the business or even what it would be going to if we did - for example, could be an intermural field or practice field bid.

I am in the carpet side, and we have made commercial carpet for GT in the past. It is funny when we first made carpet for GT over a decade ago, we had our PD department deliver a GT flag (and a TCU flag) for us to match. They came back to show me the flag and I said. "Nice flag, those aren't GT colors, get the Pantone from the official website".

I did get to keep the flag.

I should note, our new CEO is a GT grad on the president's board at GT, FWIW. Haven't met him. If he's on the Sting talk, then he's an OK dude.

Does this old stuff get recycled? I want to tell the nattering nabobs on my local Nextdoor app who are up in arms that a local private HS wants to replace their grass field with turf.
Not really an issue in GA, but in the PNW they've discovered that runoff from the recycled rubber in synthetic turf is highly toxic to coho salmon. I'm not sure how useful this information will be, but you can feel smarter & superior to your neighbors by bringing up 6PPD-quinone.

Why are we even wasting time and money on replacing shit with shit? Go ahead and make the jump back to grass or don’t do anything.
Is it still under some maintenance deal that we're already paid for or something like that? Or are we installing a whole new thing?

I've heard this. That's why I'm wondering if maybe we are switching brands if it's a "donation."
I should go plop down in his office, if I can figure out where it is, and say "I'm JJacket, don't ööööing pretend you don't know who I am. Here's the plan"

Hello fellow carpet manufacturer. With love, from Shaw ;)

Anybody notice what Angel Cabrera is wearing in that X post?
Guess he can't wear his green jacket again. But he's crushing it on the Champions Tour too.
