uga 2 TD favorite over Auburn

I think the dawgs open up a can on Auburn. They cover easily.

I think that Georgie can give LSU a game. They could possibly spoil the SEC party even.

They can shut down LSU, so the game should be close. And their O is improving week to week.

This guy is a genius.

LSU is going to beat the piss out of Georgia.

Doubling down on your earlier criticism of my prediction?

I was 100% right. UGA opened up an epic can of whoopass. Like Auburn was a directional Louisiana or a Sunbelt team.

Georgie's biggest problem is that we are no slouch and LSU is only a week after us. They really need to start practicing to beat LSU now but they can't without putting a lot of risk on our game.

It'll come down to what Richt wants worse. Another state championship or a legit shot at a SEC championship. If they think they can start watching LSU film the Sunday after Thanksgiving they will be corrected rudely in the dome.

Right, but LSU has their own problems coming up ... they still have to play for the boot

UGA will use a simple game plan for us. They will work on assignment defense but will depend on DL penetration to disrupt the option, with the OLBs trying to get to Tevin quickly. They will dare us to pass.

On offense they will try to run over us, right up the gut. Look for Samuels to play more, the bigger back, because he is bigger than anyone in our secondary and most LBs.

wait, you said the LSU-uga game would be close, you don't think that anymore?

I said

I didn't say it will be close, I said I think they can keep it close and possibly even win.

I told you they would crush Auburn and I based that on UGA having a vastly superior team to Auburn.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this, not being full of "LSU is the greatest team ever" koolaid, but UGA has very comparable talent to LSU. All things being equal, I think Georgie can line up toe-to-toe with LSU.

The difference is we are a much tougher prep opponent than Arkansas. LSU will simply line up and outlast Arkansas. They will be prepping for UGA starting now.

UGA has a major dillemna. There was an interesting stat on team records the week after they play us being poor. If UGA truly gears for the option they could have the same hangover. If LSU gets 3 weeks to prepare and UGA gets one, Les Miles will find things to exploit while UGA will not.

I don't know what Richt is going to do so I can't predict a win. I know he will not prep for Kentucky, and that occasionally leads to an unexpected result (closer than it should be most commonly). I also know that if they lose to us it will tell you he prepped for the SECCG and that they will have a legit shot on it.

Samuels is out for the season with a broken ankle. All UGA has is Crowell, Thomas, and Harton.

crew, fine you did not say 'would' but 'should'
"They can shut down LSU, so the game should be close."

So you actually don't think game will be close? Yes or no?

I had no doubt they would beat Auburn. My criticism revolved around you saying they could shut down LSU and spoil the SEC party.

You guys who keep dogging UGA just look silly and ignorant. The got beat by Boise. Ok. They barely lost to USCe who was stock full of all of their talent with Garcia and Lattimore. Then, they go on an 8-0 run, a much higher quality streak than ours to start the season. I agree with the poster who says look out for them in the SECCG, especially if they start prepping for them early, but they do still have to beat Kentucky, albeit in Athens.

So, the dilemma for Richt is, how does he prepare, given the following scenarios (with my opinion on probability for each) for the remainder of the pre-bowl season, assuming they get past UK:

1) Beat GT, Beat LSU - SEC Champs, State Champs (highly unlikely, maybe 10%)
2) Lose to GT, Beat LSU - SEC Champs (slightly more likely than #1, 15% chance)
3) Beat GT, Lose to LSU - SEC Runner-up, GA Champs (50% chance)
4) Lose to GT, Lose to LSU - State runner-up, SEC Champs (25% chance)

My opinion is that the only way his job is in serious jeopardy, is if #4 happens. I think he is safe for #1, 2, or 3.

Therefore, he almost HAS to give the GT game full prep-time if he is most concerned about saving his job. If he doesn't really care that much and wants the glory of coming out of nowhere to win the SEC, then he should just dust off last year's GT game plan and maybe devote half the time or less that he normally would for GT and all the rest goes to LSU.

So, what is more important to Richt? Saving his job or going for the SEC glory? Would love to see the latter, because that gives us more of a chance to win.

Pretty good analysis KH, I think Richt will take the risk because losing his job is not very possible after winning the SEC East with defense and offense that have improved this year with a promising look for next year.

I think his job is safe, but Richt is still a headache for uga this year, because they have to extend his contract or let him go, they are running out of time to just wait and see for one more year.

It is hard for a team to get sky high two games in a row. Either they are sky high for us, or LSU, or both or neither. On the flip side we have to get up for Duke and them. Would not be surprised to come out flat vs. the Dukies.

especially given the way we "had that game." Because we really should've beaten VPI...save for a large number of errors.

uga has beaten only 1 FBS team that has a winning record (Auburn at 6-4)

KH does a nice analysis which very much touches on what I have repeatedly said here and what you seem to keep ignoring.

The game should be close because Richt should make it 95% plus of his focus. Distracting more than 5% of his focus onto a team like us who they have dominated would be a mistake. I know that rivalries are important and all that but Georgie wins the SECC once a decade at most.

However Georgie is incredibly fixated on us as evidenced by the scheduling (going so far as to recently play 11 weeks in a row with their only bye being before us and now they have moved Auburn a week earler than tradition and inserted a hapless UK). Do not doubt this fixation for a second.

Will they mke the smart decision to focus on LSU and the SECCG or is their obsession with us overwhelming? We will find out soon enough.

lol simple question, do you think the game will be close or not? Say does LSU win by 10? I say they do.

Stop squirming around. People criticized you for saying LSU-uga or Arkansas-uga 'should' be close or whatever is your word choice.

People is just you. Everyone else understands that I called the Auburn game in a thread otherwise chock full of fail.

Everyone else understands that I am saying it should be close but it will depend on the UGA preparation which is in progress.

Until I know what they do for prep its just a wild guess.

If you want a wild guess I think they stay obsessed with us and shut us down. The result of that will be a lack of preparation for LSU which Miles will exploit early putting UGA into a hole that could snowball if they are forced to abandon the run.

Thats a wild guess. Which seems to be what you are desperate for.

I'll give you a real answer after the GT-Georgie game.
