Saw this on CSS last night on their future phenom show. I hate that he is going to be with UGA. Of course his highschool team are the bulldogs as well.

Had 7 TD's in one half, averaged 11 yards per carry last year, and racked up just shy of 3,000 yards last year. Dude will be a stud no doubt. I am sort of scratching my head a little bit on that one because PJ's offense would be his dream. I hate to say it but the way he runs and cuts up the middle and breaks out he looks a lot like our star.

Oh well, he will never be a Diesel. He'll never live up to his potential in saint Richts QB offense.

I could be wrong, but I think someone told me he will be 20 years old when he enrolls in college and doesn't have the grades to be considered by Tech. That's not to say he isn't good or would automatically choose us, but I do not think he was ever an option.

Also, remember those stats are from single A football. Nesbitt is good, but in high school, he was a legend because of the big fish in a small pond thing.

Yeah, I always see these gaudy HS numbers and wonder what they really mean. My initial reaction is to say they mean next-to-nothing, because dominating a game with lesser talent is completely different from doing well in a game with comparable talent. Just ask JJ Redick and Adam Morrison.

Well they didn't say he was almost 20 I didn't realize that, I guess he did look older than your normal high schooler. Like I said though Richt's offense doesn't cater to the RB anyways. It's always been about the QB.

I don't guess you bothered to notice who opened up the holes for Ealey. It was none other that J.C. Lanier. In all actuallity his rushing numbers are impressive but when you consider that ECI is playing class A ball and they had 3 players going to BCS schools this year it is not hard to understand. Any running back would have done well with the benefits that Ealey had in his teammates.

Which is more impressive -- what Ealy did in GA single-A, or what Marcus Wright did in one of the toughest regions of Texas 5A?

Sr year: 3374 yards (9.4 YPC), 45 TD's
In 8 playoff games: 2201 yards, 31 TD's
70+-yard carry in 8 consecutive games
100+ yards in 25 consecutive games

Oh, and by the way:

10.59 FAT 100M (2nd overall in Texas)

Good stat golden tornado. I would definitely take Wright. That show just hyped him up is all. I fell for it. Oh well.

Also, Wright does this new thing in football called "blocking". I don't know if it'll take off, but if it ever does, he'll be an absolute stud.

Marcus Wright was a true gem. He is going to be sooooo badass in 2011.

We are so ridiculously loaded at RB it makes me giddy.

But here's the scary thing about 2011: not only will Wright still be here -- but so will Roddy Jones, Embry Peeples and Richard Watson.

And I think Daniel Drummond is gonna be a ridiculous badass in the spirit of Jerome Bettis, Larry Csonka and Mike Alstott.

UGA fans love their single-A tradition. They say Herschel, Champ and Garrison Hearst disprove the theory that single-A competition is suspect.

But there are several other problems with this.

First, single-A is smaller than it used to be. When they went to five divisions in 2000, they mostly just chopped A into A and AA.

Second, the good single-A schools like ECI and Pacelli are loaded, and often put 2-3 kids a year into BCS schools. But most of their competition is not. My brother is HC of a startup single-A program, and the question he is asked most often by other coaches is, "how many do you have out?" Smaller single-A schools often have trouble getting enough kids out to field a team.

So there's a big difference between Ealy breaking GA HS records playing behind 4-star's like Lanier and Moody, and Herschel in Wrightsville where he was all they had.

And that's why Herschel was the nation's #1 recruit, but Ealy was rated lower than Dwyer, Samuel and King.

I wouldn't read too much into his high school #s. 3A-West that ECI plays football in is probably the WORST class A region in the state. 3-4 teams in that region should not even be allowed to field football teams they are so bad.

Ealy BARELY qualified to play AT UGA, which means he BARELY passed the NCAA min. No way he'd qualify for GT.

Update from today's AJC section:

Ugasports.com is reporting that Ealey, the ECI record-setting running back, North Cobb defensive end Derrick Lott and Early County safety Shawn Williams are on the list of signees who haven’t made the grade yet.

So, he hasn't qualified yet.

Is that hasn't qualified for UGA?
No wonder we didn't recruit him, wouldn't of stood a chance unfortunately.

Interesting. Any update on his chances?

#1. I would be surprised if he's not a great back if he can get in UGA. 1A or not he appears to have what it takes.
#2. He does not have the academics for GT and was never a target.

Golden Tornado, you and I are like-minded on Drummond. I look forward to watching him play @ BDS@HGF.

I heard that Drummond would make a heck of a DE as well. Has there ever been any talk about him going to the defensive side of the ball? If you recall, Derrick Morgan was a good FB in high school as well.
