UGA recruiting trip turns ugly

I think UGAy was COMPLETELY wrong.

No question, IMO, that his brother playing in the game was sufficient reason to wear OKSt colors.

I'll bet if the recruit was their top prospect (ie. the next Herschel) they'd have been treated quite differently...

Gardner is a decent left tackle, but he's not an ALL-ACC caliber player. Don't get me wrong, I like him, he's consistent, but he's not going to win any awards, which is fine by me too.

I have to call my own BS out. Gardner apparently won Offensive Lineman of the week for the ACC.

Ethics bedamned, anything that makes UGA look dumb is fine by me.

Just lousy planning by the UGA recruiting staff. They deserve the bad press for their idiocy. For all we know the parents used them to get a free trip to watch their son play a game. But as long as it screwed UGA I'm happy about it.

Its a funny story, but I agree with hivered. If I was INVITED to a game of an opponent as a guest, I would not wear GT colors without asking if its ok first. The parents should have known how to act as a guest.

The Bowmans are good people. I would bet they were just pumped to get a chance to see Adarius play and didn't even think about the conflict. It is one thing to have a sibling on the other team playing and to wear the hat of the school's rival for a visit. I agree that the person who set the invite for that game is clueless.

The other thing is I am surprised UGA is even looking at him. Michael is no Adarius.

Disagree. The best way to secure the younger son is to roll out the red carpet to the whole family to see his older brother play since they likely don't make it to the SW very often. Then, welcome them graciously. I'd expect nothing less from our coaching staff. It's called showing some class, which pretty much explains why this kid's visit turned into a debacle.

Wasn't there a GOL story about a recruit who showed up wearing a ugag hat? He sent the kid away and ended his recruiting of him iirc.

A little different circumstance...funny when he did it, very disrespectful and tactless when ugag does it, and that's the way it should be.

I guess I see both sides a little. I don't see anything wrong with them coming to the game in their sons colors and if UGag had any class they would have understood. Clearly the person who tore off the top of their tickets knew full well they were not going to get in at Gate 7 so that person was being outright ugly. But it also is a little classless expecting to get blue chip treatment and root for the other team.

This is similar to the actions of Tereshinski's dad at the ACCCG when he wore his UGA garb and whipped out his UGA flag when his son caught a pass (his only one I believe). I work with a Wake grad who I was talking to this about and he said the surrounding Wake fans chewed him out so much after he did this that he moved into the empty endzone seats by himself and I remember that this is the case. Good job Wake fans.

What a complete tool.... T's dad that is. Not so much for showing his a$$ to the Tech contingent, but for the disrespect shown to his own son who just caught a pass in the ACCCG. Obviously the kid was not a big part of wakes offense, but he finally does something good, in a championship game no less, and dear old dad pops up waving a flag where his brother plays. Gee dad, thanks for the back handed pat on the back. Like a said, what a tool.

It's almost boring having uGa as a rival. You don't have to work very hard to make them look like idiots. Just sit back and wait, they will do it for you...on a regular basis.

The Dawgs have umpteen home games every year. They are recruiting a kid whose brother plays for one of their opponents. They invite the kid and his family to that one game. They are surprised the family is ready to pull for the brother's team. DUMB DAWGS!
