Eastern Michigan Eagles (used to be Huron, I think)

I imagine it's because red was an easy color to use for "red-skinned Indians." Eastern Michigan did an overhaul, I guess.

Florida State used to be Seminoles. Now they're just a bunch of Squaws.

Yes, in 72, they took the name away from Stanford.

+1. For those of you who do not know, the Stanford Tree mascot is made yearly by the current mascot.

BTW, reading a history of Stanford mascot is pretty funny. Did you know the students actually voted for the name "Robber Barons." as a name when they got rid of Indian?
