Last year we lost to FSU in the ACC Championship game. FSU goes to the Final 4 and we go to the Orange Bowl.

This year UNC loses to Clemson in the ACC Championship game. Clemson goes to the Final 4 and UNC goes to....

FSU to the Peach Bowl on 12/31

NC State to the Belk Bowl on 12/30

finally...

UNC to the Russell Athletic Bowl on 12/29

They should be forced to wear Russell uniforms

Similar to the last time they were relevant.

10-1 and ranked #5 in 1997. Only loss was to #1 F$U. They got overlooked in the last year of the Alliance Bowls and dropped to the Gator against 7-4 Va Tech.

Couldn't happen to a better bunch than these cheating goats.

That would be gay. How do you make a powder blue sheep? That might be a worthwhile project for their African American Studies program that kept their moron quarterback eligible. UNC cheats as much as Texas.

I just hate the new bowl affiliations. Used to be that #2 went to the Gator and #3 went to the Peach. Now the Peach has (deservedly) become one of the top-tier games and the Gator has fallen into obscurity. I'm fine with getting a kick out of UNC getting screwed but I wish they'd scrap the current setup for non-NY6 bowls and get it organized so that an 11-1 season in a P5 conference didn't land you in the öööö Russell Athletic Bowl.

As far as the Peach Bowl itself is concerned, I don't know that they could have bypassed FSU because of where the rankings sit but Florida State vs. North Carolina is a very simple decision. FSU fans will flock to the Dome, the same could not be said for the Heels.

I call leading with the helmet. To me, a textbook hit but I'm from the old school when you could hit players instead of playing flag football.

I get more annoyed with the fact that the fastest you'll see an official move during any game is when a player scores. The refs jet over to them to instruct them to chill out with celebrating and return to their bench, even if the player just throws his hands in the air.

I did that to a UGA qb. Don't think he ever played varsity. Maybe I sent him to the kennel.

We had a much better resume than Clemson last year, which is why we were ranked higher and went to the Orange Bowl over them. Not sure you can really say UNC has a better resume than FSU. They were actually ranked behind FSU by the committee before playing in the ACCCG, perhaps because they anticipated possible butthurt if they ranked them ahead then "penalized" them for losing a championship game.

Realistically, they just didn't really beat anybody this year. Like Iowa, they had one shot to beat a top 5 team and couldn't get it done. But unlike Iowa, they already had a bad loss and no wins over top 20 teams.

I never want a player's career to end on that note or other injury regardless the team. But football is a contact sport with most trying to play within the interpretation of the rules.

Yeah, I don't think you can really extend the whole "winning your conference has to count for something" to winning your division. I don't get into the whole "Carolina played two FCS schools" since a lot of teams schedule one FCS opponent and one FBS opponent that could easily lose to an FCS squad. Florida State played FCS Chattanooga and FBS Texas State, for example. But in a head-to-head matchup I'd still take the Seminoles over the Tar Heels on the field, and as I said earlier, it's a no-brainer as far as bowl selection goes.

I agree the whole two FCS thing is kinda silly. Take Alabama, for example. They played Charleston Southern, Louisiana Monroe, and Middle Tennessee State. Sure, two of those teams are FBS, but they're all teams that a top 10 team should beat like a drum.

It reminds me of the discussion of NCAA tourney bubble teams, when inevitably it's pointed out that one team beat up on several teams with RPIs of 200+ in the non-conference, and it gets completely ignored that the other beat four teams with RPIs between 170 and 199.

Yeah, much better to schedule one FCS team and two shitty non power 5 teams.

Actually, yes. Beating the piss out of Eastern Michigan and Troy looks a lot better than doing the same to Wofford and The Citadel in the eyes of the committee (and the old BCS format). FCS games are weighed differently.
