UNC offense

Hate it that players get injured, but for coach Bitch Davis..... haaaaaaa

I will not engage in any more discussion about other teams injuries, because I am deathly afraid of Josh getting injured.

Never like to see injuries. It seems from the article that they had 3 graduate and another in legal trouble. That's five off last year's 2-deep that are gone. I don't know how you account for that.

When I first saw the thread title, without looking at what it was actually about, I thought "that title is an oxymoron"

They lost 3 guys, only one was due to injury:

from the article....

"
After losing two senior starters from last season to graduation, the Tar Heels already were seeing tight numbers before camp even started. Then Aaron Stahl decided to graduate and leave the program, foregoing a final year of eligibility.
Last week, reserve Kevin Bryant, who was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female this summer, decided not to return to the program for his sophomore season.
Most recently, sophomore Carl Gaskins tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an injury that will sideline him the season."

From your article quote that makes it 3 guys AND 1 due to injury.

They lost one starter to early graduation (he was not the greatest OL but had experience) and two second string OL's...only one of those to injury and the other being due to stupidity and a thug-like mentality.

The defense was always the scary part of UNC this year with 5 future NFL defensive lineman (EJ Lewis, Robert Quinn, Marvin Austin, Cam Thomas, and Tydreke Powell) and three solid LB's. 6 of the front 7 are returning starters.

Wow Hiverred, I knew the UNC D was good, but 6 of 7 returning starters and several projected to the NFL.

Should be an interesting matchup with our offense. I sure hope and pray that Josh can be healthy that whole game and not sustain any injuries against that big, mean line.

That could be a very tough game, as will most this year.

Kind of like our DL from 2002-08. Hendu, Robertson, and Johnson at DE, and Walker and Richard at DT. Oliver may have gotten a look at DE and Wrotto played DT for 3 seasons. But... they were not all on the 2-deep at the same time.

As long as our OL is good enough to require both tackles and maybe a linebacker to negate the dive then it isn't too too scary. Just have to see how it works out.

Might be worth noting though that the one linebacker they lost was probably their best player on defense as well as a team leader (second part isn't confirmed).

our biggest problems will come against the best DL's...of which I believed UNC and LSU to have the best we faced last year. Great DT's are disruptive..particularly when they were overpowering our OL and did not allow Josh time to do anything.

Our OL was not good enough last year...lets hope we improved more than our opponents returning players did.

We can beat anyone on our schedule.

Mark Paschal was a heckuva a player.

But to call losing him as a major setback to the front seven would be wishful thinking.

Their DT's are all 300 pounds and move like they weight 225.

True but DT's can't affect the pitch man like a linebacker can.

not true...how many times last year did we see our C or OG get bull rushed back into the QB and mess up his step count before he could even think of getting to the edge...much less pitching it.

If they mess up the QB's steps and angles...it blows up the play.
