UNC QB gone too

Man, next year's schedule...

New QB -
Miami
VT
UNC
Clemson
Tennessee
Pitt (right?)

Same QB -
Georgia

UVA?
Duke?
Wake?

Every single "good" team we play next year will be breaking in a new QB except for Georgia.

Who knew UGA was a good team?

That kid UGAg is getting in is better than Eason, so I hear.

Already seen chatter from Dwag fans about Fromm supplanting Eason by mid-season next year. After jerking off to Eason for the last 12 months.

Definitely shaping up well for us. Going one step further:

Loses QB & "main" offensive weapon(s) -
VPI (Hodges/Ford)
UNC (Hood)
Clemson (M Williams)
Tenn (Hurd)
Pitt (Conner)

Loses QB -
Miami

Same QB -
dwags

Kamara was UTs stud RB at the end of the season. Hurd left midway through the season and wasn't as good.
Clemson has plenty of receivers.
UNC has good RBs.
VPI is fricked.

Seriously though, I'm not sure VT fans are worried enough. The QBs they have on their roster neither proven nor came in with any hype out of HS. They had one dual threat guy that was a big name recruit but he got kicked out of school I believe. They have a dual threat guy for this class that's good, but doubt he contributes that quickly. If they don't get a transfer I think they're going to regress quite a bit on offense. Ford was the best receiver they've had in awhile and Hodges was a matchup nightmare for DCs (although he didn't produce like I thought we would over his career). They have major question marks at QB/WR/RB and their OL hasn't been good for a long time.

I'd say the media will hype VT given the high '16 ranking, but I see it is a 5-team toss up again. To be honest our offense *should* be the most plug-n-play of the teams losing QBs. Depends on the DTs for us, losing both guys inside will be the talking point for people questioning us just as much as JT5's departure.

You're not wrong, but my point wasn't about what else those teams have, just what they're losing.

As for VPI, the biggest QB the had coming in, IMO, was Malik Willis from Roswell HS. Flipped to the War Tigers on New Years weekend. Let's also remember that Evans was VPI's leading rusher this year, so they'll have to develop a true running game. Are they set up for that? Idk.

Your last paragraph is spot on - it is imperative for us to close on DL targets in this class to help alleviate some of the worry around the DL. As I've pointed out in another thread, we only have one right now (Cortez Alston). Plenty of targets out there (9-10 per CPJ on 680 last week) so our work's cut out for us.

Should have clarified that UT is losing Kamara this year too. As well as their top WR IIRC.

For realzies though, without all those weapons, plus losing a big-time defense player or two IIRC, I'd expect us to have the edge come next September. Obviously imperative for [starting QB] to get adjusted in the offseason.

Hooker is the guy VT has coming in this year - he may be enrolling early. But he's raw and skinny from the HS film I've seen. Can't see him playing a factor in 2017 at all. You may be right that Willis was the better prospect.

Jackson is the guy on the roster that IIRC they are thinking is next in line without a transfer.

Lawson is the guy that was hyped big in the 2015 class. IIRC he committed to Miami early and when he jumped ship we were trying to get him in Atlanta, but he went to VT. Had offers from all the SE factories. But either failed out or got kicked off.
That's the big loss for them as he would have been a RS-SO ready to step in next year.

They're playing Notre Dame and 4 conference games before October 21. If they're expecting to have a QB problem by then they might not have the same coach at the end of the year.

Also - AJ Bush kid from Norcross (formerly of Nebraska) has transferred to VPI. Unsure if he'll be eligible right away. Rode the bench as a Husker.

I heard it from every uga fan that I talk to. Eason is already old news.
