UNC Recruiting

I'm saying that this half of the ACC is far too competitive for any one team to emerge as a top 5, particularly for a team who's coach is (at best) the 3rd best in his division.

Really what I'm saying is that Beamer > Davis and PJ > Davis, and both are in UNC's division.

In this division, I don't think GT or VT will ever crack top 5 either, unless one of our programs happens to get enough balls bouncing our way to make a NC game.

the Early Bird 2009 poll (i just posted about it in a new thread) has GT at 8, VT at 13 and UNC at 21, all from the same side, but as you say, not one in the Top 5, but two in the top 15 aint bad at all.

They have a very good class, but not a great one. I have watched Dixon and Bunn from Smithfield-Selma up close in our conference, they are not overwhelming and both underperformed as Seniors. I like their two star wide receiver from West Craven very much. They got a DE from a small school down East that some hope may be a Mario Williams type of player - but he is nowhere near as strong as Mario was when State recruited him.

Davis is getting some players into school that are questionable - thus their higher rate of attrition. Several Hargrove players are signess in this group of 26. If we had 26 commitments at our average level of talent instead of 19, I believe our class would be on par with theirs.

They will have to get rid of some players this year to get under the limit. But, indeed Davis has outrecruited O'Brien repeatedly since coming to the state.

The good news is that North Carolina's best player, a mammoth OT from Fayetteville, Xavier Nixon, will be a Gator. We won't see him in baby blue or bright red, plus he will be blocking on Bulldogs.
