uni's for the bowl

If I understood him correctly, he told me that the equipment staff wanted to break them out, but the AD was committed to wearing white every regular season game.

I liked this idea. I like that we've had an entire season to establish the norm of our uniforms rather than doing what most people do and have a new uniform for every week.

I think both GT and LSU should come out in their white unis. On the TO the LSU D would end up tackling themselves instead of JD or RJ.

Personally, I hate the trend to gimmick uniforms. I hate the black Maryland, the black UGA, the purple Clemson, the green ND, etc.

It seems every team wants to change it up and make a fashion statement.

Maryland's black jerseys aren't a gimmick uni. Perhaps when they go ALL black that's more of a gimmick. But the University of Maryland's colors are all the colors of the state flag of Maryland which is white, yellow, black, and red. I've seen them, especially in basketball, in all manner of combinations (some of them hideously ugly, in fact one might say "fugly").

as a silent protest of the changing of the name to Chick-Fil-A bowl from Peach Bowl, we should come out in our Peach and Old Gold unis!

Disagree.

Black has always been a color for UGA as well. Yet black jersey counts as a gimmick to me given that they hadn't worn it in their entire history prior. It had always been red or white jersey with white or silver pants.

Maryland also always played in red or white jersey until recent years.

If Maryland comes out in a yellow jersey, then that's a gimmick despite the fact it may be an official school color.

I just don't see the top schools needing to resort to uniform gimmicks to spur interest.

i think its less about a fashion statement and more about rewarding the players (they always seem to want to mix things up) and rallying the fans (younger fans such as myself get excited about things like this...its just our nature) i think its more about changing things up and being different and exciting than it is about fashion...

saying that...i would love to see a new jersey, but i wouldnt mind seeing the whites either. i say it should be up to the players, especially the seniors.

Being different?

I am reminded of an interview I heard of a Madonna wannabe in line for a concert in the early eighties. She said, "I just want to be different like everybody else." (standing in line with hundreds of girls dressed exactly alike)

I don't like Oregon's approach of literally having a different uniform for every game but I'm sure a lot of people do. Not everyone needs to follow the same criteria for when it's okay to change uniforms.

The only thing that bothers me is people that put too much worth into whether a certain jersey color or uniform combination is going to cause them to win or lose.

I used to like that Florida State always wore all-garnet against us because it seemed like their method of recognizing us as their biggest conference competition - even though it may have only been for the sake of distinguishing themselves from us better because we wear gold pants.

I love uniforms and special alternates and such but at the same time, a lot of schools go too far (Florida State's "Unconquered" all-blacks are idiotic) and people put too much worth into them. They should be fun for the players to wear and fun for the fans to watch but associating them with good luck or curses is stupid.

We should sacrifice game preparation and practice to have the coaches research what uniform combination gives us the highest probability of success. This is a much bigger determinant of W's and L's than actual play calling and execution.

You know it to be true!:D

Think the other team will have a lot of missed assignments if we come out wearing nothing but our helmets?

I liked the throwbacks from 2006 alot, and not just because we were all over UVA that night. I have no problem with doing something fun on a Thursday night game. If it becomes your defacto motivational technique, like the Black Out, then it's dumb. But if it's something for the fans to get into and have some fun with, I'm all for it.
