At Least One Of Us Is :)

Techbert this is twice in a month that I have to disagree with you. You're slipping man.

We don't know if the zebras would have sustained their anti-GT bias if VPI had closed the gap. Depending on how cynical they were, the same guy that took away a good spot for us to allow us to continue a drive, for example, might have called holding on them on a huge play that would have put them ahead.

And the WORST calls came very late, when we were 4 scores and later 3 scores ahead. I never felt the outcome was in doubt. Them closing to 11 was pretty much worst case.

On a different subject, chucking the ball long is not the level of sophistication I want in a GT OC. A toss sweep would have an equal or better chance of getting the first down at that down and distance and time left on the clock. Taking the time off the clock was the definite tiebreaker in its favor.

Did anyone but Dean and I see the beautiful toss to Calvin to get a key first down late? Beautiful call. It kept them guessing the rest of the game, which increased the chance of success on future running plays.

Why would you assume that? You are right though, and the DB made a great play to wrestle CJ to the ground. Due to the tv angle I don't know who was there to help for vt. That one could have gone to the house too. I agree that play helped our run game.

Regarding the 3rd and 25 play call, which I really can't believe is being questioned, I thought the pitch itself was a bit risky.
I agree we needed to run clock, but a Dodd quick kick would have been appropriate too.

You're being serious, aren't you?.

Yes I am.

I believe we were winning by 18 at the time, and our defense had just caused 2 consecutive fumbles.
I really can't fault Nix for not pulling out his 3rd and 25 playbook
VT didn't back off any last year. I have seen too many games where you try and protect the lead and end up blowing it.

If you were comfortable and relaxed yesterday in the 4 th. quarter than we need to check your pulse. Mine was in triple digits.

Yes we won a big game and I am damn proud of it.

Just would like to see us put up some points late in the game.:woot:

I don't think Beamer ever got a 3rd and 25 after he got the lead, nor was he playing in front of a big opposing crowd who could really get into it with something like a turnover.

I beleive it only got as close as it did because Refs had their Hokie shirts on underneath their uniforms. Chan erred on the side of having confidence in our running game that was working and on the strength of our defense against an inexperienced quarterback. Well, our strength is pressuring the QB and the mugging the VPI OL got away with hurt kept us from getting to the QB, not to mention the "pass interference" calls.

You can fault Chan for not bringing the refs' future into consideration, but I think he made the right calculation with the information we had. Again, we did not want a huge game-breaking play to turn it into another 2004.

Anyone who complains about playcalling this past Saturday is a nob.

That is all.

What a joke. VT ranked higher then us shows you how screwed up these polls are. What a Joke...
