Utah conference proposes 8-team-playoff

Any playoff will have its controversies too, someone complaining at the end. But the point is there will be less serious complaints.

There will be complaints you can bet on it. Especially if this thing from the Mountain West actually leads to a playoff. Cause in a couple of years after that the Sun Belt commissioner will be doing it and soap boxing on how the Mountain West got what they wanted, why can't the Sun Belt eh?

So we'd have the same type of complaints as right now, but with a better system in place? Sounds good to me.

Look, people are right that there will always be complaints. There were complaints that the Cardinals made the playoffs and the Patriots didn't. But the reality is that as long as the system is well defined, makes some sense, and results in good matchups, no one really cares. The BCS misses on all three of those counts.

He's actually right this time. BCS is going nowhere.

it's a matter of semantics. the way the BCS works has already changed more than once. so, the original BCS agreement is GONE.

the current one will be tweaked in a year or two, bank on it.

so while the main concept of the BCS will be here, it will evolve, maybe even into a playoff (like +1 would have been)

so, once again. its a matter of semantics but one thing is guaranteed: the BCS process will not stay the same for a long time

Why don't you just look at the information that's already out there, EVEN NOW the highest ranked non-BCS team gets AUTOMATIC bid into BCS bowls if it's in top 12 ranking. Now look at the data:
08-09: Utah #6
07-08: Hawaii #10
06-07: Boise State #8
04-05: Utah #6
So EVEN now these teams outrank 11-1/10-2/9-3 if they are in top 12.

Any playoff will have its controversies too, someone complaining at the end. But the point is there will be less serious complaints.

And thats fine...while there will always be upsets the mid-majors just dont deserve to be there in my mind...I did not read the article bc I am lazy, and I'm sure they would give out concrete bids: ACC SEC BE PAC10 B10 B12 champions are automatic.....2 at large from those conferences vs 2 at large or automatics from mid majors.....but if you're to give a mid major conference an automatic bid which conference? And what about..say a 1 or 2 loss major conference team compared to an undefeated mid major with maybe one good win compared to an ACC or SEC team with 3+ wins against ranked opps with1 or 2 losses. I cannot justify in making an arguement against a major conference with those credentials for a mid major team. You point out Utah last year against Alabama and I point out Hawaii vs. UGA in the Sugar. Boise State and Utah are an anomaly. But you can make a valid argueement for them based on past bowl performances.

you are like 12 and have no concept of the history of college football. you dont know what you are talking about. the BCS already almost went down.. just a few years ago
