UVA vs Southern Cal

Groh's last year? Tenuta's next job?

I'm a big Tenuta fan as a coordinator. I dont think he will get a HC job at a BCS school. He does not have the personality or leadership qualities IMO. Thanks for the memories though.

USC over the years seems flaky to me. They nearly lost to Stanford in, IIRC, the year they won the MNC. Same thing with Washington State and UCLA.

So, maybe...but probably not.

As much as I'd like to see UVA stay in this one, I don't see it. I think all the "The ACC more like All Cupcake Conference" nonsense will continue into the season when Virginia gets smacked.

I bet that "Mexican" quarterback throws for at least 300 yds and 4 TDs. It won't even be close. Do you all remember when Arkansas, a team around the same level as UVA thought they could hang? Well, they got beat 70-17. I bet SC gets at least 50 and keeps UVA under 20.

I think the Mexican quarterback lost to Stanford last year. Booty got injured. Where's Booty from, is he French?

The ACC has some unfortunate games for our reputation in the first week. NCSU and UVA are in the bottom tier of the league so both USC games look bleak. Our hopes lie with Clemson, trouble is Bama is my second team so I have to pull against them.

It'll be a pretty successful weekend if the ACC opens 4-2 against 1A teams with NCSU keeping it close and UVA losing by less than 30.

As for UVA -- a friend predicted they will go 3-9 and I thought that was a little harsh.

We went through their schedule game by game, and now I think he's right. Turns out there is a reason Phil Steele picked them last in the Coastal.

At best, they are probably looking at the one 1AA win, 4-5 tossups and 6-7 probable losses. They got every break in 07 and this year they have a lot less experience coupled to a lot harder schedule.

Seems about right to me. They almost got that last year, if the ball bounced differently, and then they lost like their entire team to graduation, NFL, and thuggery.

The first pirates were arabs, I think. Truthfully.

Some think, actually, that the extremely early original pirates were Hebrews and Lyceans.

But arabs were definitely the most successful pirates in history.

Nowadays, it's the Africans doing the bulk of the piracy.

Although Brazilians aren't far behind.

I actually predict that UVA will keep it close. Always be weary of a home dog on opening day. A 19 point spread is a little much for a team that has to travel the country side and play an opener. UVA I'm sure has had inspired practices solely because their opener is against USC. USC will struggle a bit to get going and I don't think they will cover the spread.
